I visited Gallipoli on foot in the new part than in the old one.
Let's start by saying that Gallipoli looks like a city in all respects and not a country... Industries, Crafts, Local, Meetings, Important port (fishing vessels), Coastal, much Tourism and therefore many Hotels and Restaurants.
But the amount of tourism and patrons is not supported by the municipality that should manage the flow that from 20,000 inhabitants, during the summer can reach 100,000 people.
Let's talk about the old part:
- beautiful on a tourist level because you walk the perimeter of the castle, border
beaches with crystal clear waters, the villages are full of markets and shops that
offer local and artisan products.
- too bad that the streets are dirty, clogged with locals who invade the streets
tight with squatter tables. No traffic cops to contain or contest this
manifests anarchy.
Let's talk about the current Gallipoli:
- Beautiful and modern, full of trendy shops and opportunities such as supermarkets and
banks. Main roads and sidewalks are wide, offer possibilities
of walking. For those who love art, on the route of the central street can meet the
beautiful Parish of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, later the obelisk "Monument to the
Fallen" dedicated to the soldiers of the First World War. Continuing you meet the
Cathedral of Sant'Agata if visited you can admire multiple paintings, to do it
compare to a picture gallery.
- Too bad that having to visit it a tourist is bled dry by onerous taxes and
limited parking spaces; fines for out-of-hours or off-street parking.
Here too the Bars are the masters, abusing the outdoor spaces to impose
tables and chairs. ABSENT... or at least unseen... traffic wardens. Town planning without
control and therefore dirty spaces.

The Center... a fascinating place that combines history and beauty at every corner. Its narrow, cobbled streets are lined with historic buildings and monuments. The atmosphere is vibrant and there are many cafes and shops to explore. It is an ideal place to stroll and immerse yourself in the rich history of Gallipoli. An essential visit for those in the city.

Gallipoli is spectacular and I'm not going to find out. Beautiful sea, beautiful food, beautiful location. Stayed at Casa Sofia, right on Corso Roma, in an optimal position, both for services in the center and for the proximity to Gallipoli Vecchia and to reach the coast of Baia Verde. It 'just the pearl of Salento and I recommend everyone to go there

Today was a very clear and sunny day and, despite being a Sunday, there were few people around because it is now November. It was therefore pleasant to walk through the streets of this beautiful old town, which I found clean and well maintained. I imagine things go differently in August when half of Italy pours into Salento.

The ancient village of Gallipoli is very beautiful and particular. It is located on an island in the middle of the sea and has many places to see, then offering wonderful views of the sea (eg Purity) and views that range over a good part of the Ionian coast of Salento. To improve its management certainly, there are too many cars present as well as that ugly asphalt should be removed and the chianche restored.

The historic centre is a much smaller area than other cities in the region. It has a beautiful beach, clean water, a castle and beautiful buildings. The castle on the outside is a very beautiful and well preserved construction. There is free parking in this area with good offer of places.

Absolutely a jewel. The color of the sea is magnificent. If you can stay in.gallipolli for 2 days and combined it with beach holiday at baia verde, is like you are in maldivas.

I don't know. I expected better. The main street with the shops is very nice but I found it very dirty and not held molto.Ditto the beach of Purity. It deserves instead the municipal library which is a real pearl in the middle of the old town, but also the facade of the Cathedral which unfortunately you can not even photograph almost because it is in a narrow street and for me deserved at least a square in front.

Guardate che fa piuttosto caldo, anche un pochino più tardi credo possa andare bene. Torre San Giovanni- Gallipoli sarà mezz’ora di strada traffico permettendo... come dicevo, non so il flusso turistico di agosto... m credo possa andare bene. Il centro storico è veramente grazioso. Buona serata!!!

Buongiorno a tutti,
a fine agosto, primi di settembre mi recherò a Gallipoli ed alloggerò nel centro storico. Avendo preso macchina a noleggio avrei necessità di sapere dove è possibile parcheggiare, se gratis o a pagamento ed eventuali ulteriori dettagli. Grazie anticipatamente a chi vorrà essermi d'aiuto.

Sulle stradine laterali tra lungomare e via Roma. Non lasciarla in divieto di sosta perché prendi.la multa!!!!sono agguerriti.via ampelea e dintorni fai due tre giri trovi.di sicuro trovi meno caos fine agosto

Ik had graag geweten of die brug “ponte s Giovanni paolo ll”in een verkeersluwe zone ligt wij,kregen een boete van 105 euro , voor er over te rijden in 2016 met de vermelding “verkeersluwe zone enkel te betreden met de nodige toestemming!
