Two days of total relaxation away from it all. Amazing location in a place that seems to have fallen behind in time. Truly everything beautiful, from the rooms, to the common areas, to the reception, the service is kindness. No TV in the rooms to live even better this return to the past with the comforts of the present. Vote 10

Beautiful structure, out of time and confusion. We had a relaxing weekend also participating in the visit of the cellars (very good Guide Alessia) with wine tasting: beautiful and very good experience. The room is large and clean, the structure is old but does not taste old, it tastes of history😍.
We had dinner at the restaurant that makes refined dishes, very tasty and is not very expensive. Just one note to the price of the wine: charging 75 euros for a bottle that in the shop is 46 seems a bit exaggerated (but does not change the restaurant's high Rating).
We had a great time and will be back!

Magnificent place surrounded by nature.
It feels like you're going back in time.
Silence and cleanliness everywhere. Good sleep quality (mattress needs improvement) Super breakfast.
Courteous and helpful staff. A note of applause for the professionalism of Elena who followed us during our dinners at the property's restaurant.

The place is enchanting. The view over the Valdarno stands out, a visit to the abbey is essential, as well as to the adjacent cellars of the old monastery. The food at the restaurant is of excellent quality, a round of applause to Mrs Natalie and all her collaborators (both in the dining room and in the kitchen).

Today's experience of 6 people with a very rainy day so we arrive half an hour late, they tell us that we can do the tour anyway and make us wait twenty minutes (so far so good). However, given the starting time, the tour lasts less than 15 minutes, including a summary tasting without too much explanation of two wines with poorly filled glasses (together we didn't even get to a normal glass). Despite the purchase of two bottles, including a magnum, and my obvious disappointment, they still made us all pay the full price of the tasting. They don't even know what hospitality is even though it is their motto.
There are better alternatives in the area.

This is a must see winery. The tour is wonderful and full of history and the gardens are envy-worthy! The wines are great as well as the olive oil, which was written up in Food and Wine. The staff is very knowledgeable. We bought wine to take back with us to have for dinner. It is diffidently worth the visit!

My wife and I visited this beautiful Abbey at the beginning of September. As our flight was delated, we arrived past 1130pm but the restaurant staff was so kind to leave a full dinner in our appartment. The granaio appartment was clean and well furnished, and the breakfast the day after our arrival very good. Friendly staff served us scambled eggs, prosciutto and cheese, excellent house made focaccia and pizza, a spinach and prosciutto puff pastry pie, fresh fruit and yogurt..and a milion other items. Coffee service at the same level of a bar..cappuccino, latte and all you can ask for, juices etc.
My wife broke a tooth and the reception found for us a dentist the very day. Stunning to say, dentist performed a clean up and temporary repair for free!!!!
We also joined the tour and tasting, which was hosted in a tasteful room.
Concierge again helped us booking a wine tasting at Volpaia our last day.
A part the restaurant needs to be mentioned. Riccardo Giorgi, manager at the restaurant, offered us the most friendly and professional service I have ever received in my entire career of hospitality and food and beverage manager. Service was attentive but not invasive, we asked for items off the luch menu such as a big juicy chianina steak, he made it happen.
Wine tasting was offered by the house.
I shall mention that we booked the granaio room not being aware than it can host up to 2 families. When we casually mentioned this to the receptionist, we were given 50% off.
I have been manager in the industry for over 35 years and I have never received such professional and attentive service.
Stop to visit the pretty shop at the beginning of the road that takes you to the abbey..you will find the same quality. We will be back

We were excited to visit Badia a Coltibuono during our trip to Chianti. In fact, it was one of the things we were most excited about in planning this trip. We have enjoyed the wines for years back home in the US. So, this was a big day for us!
We booked the lunch with wine tasting then a tour of the Abbey and property afterwards. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, stunning really. Unfortunately, that is where our enjoyment ended on this visit.
We were seated for lunch in the lovely patio dining area and told rather coldly by the server what our lunch options were. She poured the first wine with no explanation. The first course arrived, and it was gnocchi with zucchini in some sort of gravy, which was burned.
The second wine arrived, and it was a Sangiovese. It was served very cold, so the flavors of the wines did not show well. We did not drink it. The main plate arrived, and they were both unpleasant. We were not able to eat them. We noticed that others around us seemed to have similar experiences.
When the server finally came by after a long wait, she asked if we liked the food. We politely said no, we did not. She did not seem to care, cleared the plates, and left.
It was at this point, we felt disrespected as travelers and decided to leave. We did not feel welcome at all. The wines were not showing well, the food was not edible, and the service was disengaged and unfriendly. It seems like they just push 'tourists' through this process, assuming they know nothing of food or wine, like some bus full of tourists on a discount tour lunch.
I can say that in my 25 years in the fine wine industry, having attended many winery lunches and dinners all over the world, more than I can remember, this was by far the worst.
We felt disrespected and not valued as long-time consumers. We paid quite a lot for this experience but had no desire to stay. We left right after the main was cleared and the second base-tier wine was hastily splashed into our glasses by a passing server.
Needless to say, we will not be back and most likely have had our last bottle of Badia Coltibuono. I expected more from such a noteworthy producer.
Moving on.

First time back after many times in the past for lunch at all seasons. Very disappointing indeed. Poor choices on the menu. Chicken escalope. Hamburger a pasta with a watery Cinghiale sugo semi stale bread and very ordinary dolce In short a disgrace ! And only 4 options for secondi - chicken, hamburger and salad. Not what we had expected at all
