Firstly, it’s so sad to hear the news that this local gem has just closed, I hope the closure is temporary. I have recently had two amazing meals there and was really looking forward to adding it to my special places to eat list.
The food is excellent with some fabulous flavour combinations and the setting simply stunning. Definitely worth a visit if it reopens!

Really delicious food! I went with my husband and his family. The selection on the menu was perfect. Each option has clearly been carefully curated to suit a range of palettes. We had the fish pie and the mushroom gnocchi and we were very impressed by the chef’s personal spin on the dishes. 1000% would recommend. Especially the gnocchi, which as a vegetarian, It’s such a pleasure to have something soo different and thought through.
The atmosphere is cosy and friendly. We love having a sunny afternoon drink by the river, or as it was tonight, a warm candlelit dinner. Perfect for a chilled out eve with friends, or a more special occasion.

The food was good - particularly the lemon and white chocolate tart + ice cream which wasn't sickly and sweet but utterly delicious! The ONLY problem was the length of time we waited - first to be offered menus, secondly to receive our food. All in all, we received our food an hour after we arrived (on time) for our booked table. There was no apology or mention of the reason. I can only guess that the rather isolated location means it's difficult to recruit!

This bridge is a con. It’s awfully bumpy and amateur feeling going over it. Can’t see how much money has been invested in this. And the road after is badly surfaced in many places. A much better option is the adjacent A road. The large HAY ON WYE festival sign is misleading, as I’m sure it confuses many as to the best route to hay, which it isn’t. Nice little parasitic cash-cow.

Can not rate this restaurant highly enough. Everyone must try it! It's a great place, I would imagine it isn't quite as impressive with miserable weather as the location lends itself to a glorious summers evening but that can't be helped

We had the most beautiful meal with the best staff at the eatery based at Whitney Bridge.
Had a swim in the Wye , tea and books on the bank, and then Sunday lunch.
The guy who run/manage/own it are a joy to behold. So friendly and amenable and the food was to die for

I’ve been to this charming restaurant with equally charming owner several times now. It’s always been a treat in every way and become my favourite place for miles around. And for anyone partial to a Bloody Mary as am I the owner makes the best I’ve had anywhere in the world.

We have just visited this wonderful restaurant near the toll bridge to Hay-on-Wye for the first time, and were welcomed by Pete and his wonderful young team. What a stunning setting, with an excellent menu, expertly prepared, beautifully presented and served by cheerful and helpful staff. I cannot recommend it enough! Any requests were received graciously and nothing was too much trouble. We’ll be back to bask in the view and have our tastebuds treated to their delicious food and excellent drinks. Bravo, all. What a treat.

Dinner here after canoeing from Hay on Wye. A surprise from friends and husband for my 60th birthday. We were met, as usual, with smiles and excellent service from Pete and his team. 9 of us ate, and everything was delicious and delivered in timely fashion. We drank and laughed way beyond bed time.
Great food here and a wonderful setting, but mostly, customer service is second to none.
