This is a nice spot to stop and have a look at a fantastic view. It's a good place to stretch your legs and take a picture. Peaceful area.

An excellent getaway even on a gloomy day, the tree canopies keep you dry for sure, the misterious dark atmosphere with background birds chirping makes this easy walk makes it exciting. Don't forget to stop time to time sit at the benches to enjoy the view of the lake.

WOW! This is incredible. Gently undulating walk and stunning native bush. Loved the bird song, so so pretty and cool to walk under the canopy most of the way.
Definitely take togs to swim in the lake which was surprisingly warm.

Did this while waiting on the weather to do Tongariro Crossing. A nice afternoon out, not difficult in any sense of the word, decent views, frequent bench stops along the way. Recommend for families with young children

Easy trail (although its a solid climb in and out) in great condition. 5 minute beach is a great spot to stop for a snack / lunch

A group of us walked the lake last Saturday morning and all had a great time
The walk is 6.5 kms mostly through bush but with the edge of the lake by your side most of the way
Part of the walk is along the beach at the end of the lake
Well sign posted and well maintained and suitable for all ages

Enjoyed the walk very much but would have loved it more if it had not been rushed by the tourists accompanying me ,A swimm at lake and some reflection time would have made this a beautiful not very hard roundtrip

We walked on New years Day, so quite a few families etc enjoying the walk, but never crowded. A lovely walk through glorious forest, with lots of information boards about the various native flora along the track. Huge tree ferns and trees like rimu etc.A few side tracks down to the lake for beautiful views. Quite a few native and endemic birds along the track and in the lake, and very loud, non- native, frogs calling from the reed beds. Quite an easy walk mainly, and a fantastic introduction to NZ bush

I was really surprised at how stunning this walk was. Easy walk with spectacular views right around the lake. Be sure to walk right around the lake and marvel at the ancient trees that are dotted around. I was in awe, but then I do love trees !!

Just out of Turangi it was a great relaxing walk. It was raining but it was mainly undercover so didn't get too wet. The first part is a little steep for the first 15minutes but after that it's pretty cruisy. Easy enough for kids. Not really suitable for prams as there a parts that go onto the lake front and the track is quite is quite narrow. When the weather is fine it would be a great place to have a swim.
