A pleasure to find a bookshop with quality second hand books, including first editions for those interested. Just be aware to set a decent amount of time aside!

Dashing into the bookshop on a very hot afternoon in February, we were met with Jo's friendly offer to assist if we needed anything. After much browsing and being painfully selective about which titles I would be taking home with me (and which ones I'd have to leave behind...), we had a lovely chat with Jo about art and life and doing what you love. It was the perfect bookshop experience: a non-intrusive, yet very present person to help, and a true ambassador to the town of Montagu, and walking out with an armful of books and a huge grin!

We visited this bookshop hoping to find a local guide book, but came away with something much more useful. The owner, Jo Prentice, generously provided us with a hand written list of all her favourite local attractions and places to visit for the next two that we were in the area between Montagu and Prince Albert.
Her advice took us to Ouberg Pass, the Diesel and Creme cafe in Barrydale, the Tradouw Pass, Swellendam, Calitzdorp, the Seveweekspoort Pass, the Gamgaspoort Dam. We travelled on up the Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert where we found the Kitchen Kombuis restaurant, which Jo had highly recommended.
All in all fantastic recommendations from a delightful lady,

We often stop here on our way to Barrydale just to get our monthly/quarterly dose of good reads. Their selection is absolutely phenomenal. There is always something wonderful and new something for me (writer), my husband (botanist) and our two-year old.

The most lovely and friendly little bookstore of Jo Prentice, an ex-academic librarian. This ensures the highest quality selection of books, ranging from a variety of subjects and genres. I love the atmosphere in this gem of a shop, go and look for yourself!

I was very happy to find this bookshop in one of my favourite towns. The owner is super-friendly and helpful and generous with her advice. I found some great books including a 1956 1st Edition of a highly rated book.

I spent a day in Montagu and the highlight was the discovery of this wonderful bookshop with its incredibly friendly owner. If you are looking for something specific, she has lots of ready advice about where else to find it if she doesn't have it and she may even offer to find it for you.
The books that include many classics are well categorised and very affordable. Book-lovers can't afford to miss this stop in Montagu
