My husband and I just spent two weeks in Belize and had rentals from Alternate Adventures for most of that time. We rented the Honda 150s and they were FANTASTIC. Emma made booking easy (which was a challenge since, in the two months before we arrived, our plans kept changing) and she offered extensive advice on where to take the motorcycles. We took them to San Ignacio, including the notorious road to Caracol, we took them to Punta Gorda, we took them down the dirt (and sometimes muddy) roads to Mayflower Bocawina National Park, Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Preserve, and all along the Sittee River area. When one of the bikes broke down, Emma's team was there (she provides a cell phone for just such an emergency): we had a replacement bike and some VERY nice "so sorry for the inconvenience" consolations. Plus, she made recommendations for who to book with for snorkeling, what local sites were worth seeing, and so much more. I would rent from her again in a heartbeat. I wish there were versions of her exact business across Central and South America. And Europe. Okay, everywhere. I would love to take a group of women to Belize and have Emma lead us on an adventure herself!

Loved our stay at Hopkins and renting two bikes at Emma's place. Talking about riding in Belize on her rooftop bar was very laid back and informative. Also talking about riding motorcycles in general was very nice. Emma has a lot of experience traveling and loves to share her experience.

Rented a bike for our honeymoon, to do some exploring. Emma was amazing getting us set up! Even picked us up and dropped us off from the hotel. Gave great recommendations and directions! Will definitely plan for another longer rental next time we come back!

Alternate Adventures is one of the coolest places I’ve found on my travels! Emma, the owner, is wonderful, and has a wealth of knowledge about Belize which will help you plan the perfect adventure. Whether you want to ride to waterfalls, Mayan ruins, butterfly farms or cultural activities, she can point you in the right direction and give you great ideas. The motorbikes are excellently maintained, and they have a variety to chose from for taller or shorter riders alike. It’s the perfect way to see Belize and experience it more like a local on two wheels. I came here with my own motorcycle, and their knowledgeable mechanic was able to help me fix a few things, which was also great. Trying out the rental bikes, they were actually better suited to the local trails and roads (sometimes a little bike is much easier to handle!) I highly recommend this spot and will be back again

We rented two Honda 150s for 4 days throughout southern Belize and had a great trip. Bikes were well maintained and we appreciated being given a local phone in case we had any issues. When we did run into a problem, Cornelio was quick and able to help us over the phone, getting us back on the road. Everything one could expect from a motorcycle rental plus more. Highly recommend!

I was in Hopkins in April where I rented a motorbike from Motorbike Rentals & Alternate Adventures. I has booked online and when I got there Emma was expecting me. She was fantastic we did the formalities then she showed me the bikes all of then were in excellent condition and clean. Emma then asked me what I was interested in and she produced a map and marked all of the points of interest

Excellent service. Easy to arrange a multi-week rental. Well maintained motorcycles. Emma, the charming and knowledgeable owner, provided lots of help planning an itinerary and suggesting off-the-beaten-path destinations. Getting to Hopkins via Dagringa was easy using Maya Air and a local taxi. Good hotels available in Hopkins. Emma also offers accomodations at Crash Pad, which is listed as a hostel, but is a step up with private rooms.
The cycles available for rent are prefect for Belize. They are the same models the locals ride and will get pretty much anywhere in the country you care to ride. The bike itself proved a gateway to friendly conversations everywhere I stopped.
Whether it's a day ride or a few weeks of exploring Belize backcountry roads, this should be your first stop. The web site's Rides page provides good information for planning a riding itinerary.

WOW, WOW, WOW! Take me back! As a shorty, renting bikes can be a real task, but Emma had such a great selection and made sure we had everything we needed to adventure safely, and Cornelio made sure our bikes were in perfect condition. We were out in the jungle in no time, riding through rivers, checking out plane crashes, and popping out on the beach with pelicans swooping around us. I've been to Belize several times, but this was hands-down the best experience. We stayed at her hostel as well, and she was a fantastic host. I definitely will be back to ride there again. Don't miss eating at the restaurant next door, either! Until then, I'll be dreaming about having a post-ride Belikin on the roof patio watching the sun set over Hopkins.

Are after hour drop-offs allowed? We would like to pick up a bike but the time we want to drop it off will be after closing hours and we can't return it the next day due to the time of one of our scheduled tours (7am to 5:30pm).

Hi! My boyfriend knows how to ride a dirt bike, but does not have a motorcycle licence... can we still rent a motor bike or no? if not, are there any other companies that rent dirt bikes or similar equipment you could recommend? Thanks so much for your time!

@ Nicky: Sometimes, if bikes are available, and the customers would like to go for short rides we can currently rent for up to 4 hours for 39 USD for a 200cc dual sport.

Hi,
In Belize you may drive on your license from you home country. In order to rent you need to be an experienced rider.
Belizean law requires a motorcycle license to ride a motorcycle.

2: i have a motorcycle licensee in America and my wife doesn't will she be able to drive one without a motorcycle endorsement on her license??
3: what kind of paperwork is needed so show a competency with riding motorcycles??

I advise to stop by or call 1st.
We showed up in AM and got bike that day
Your wife won't be able to drive one without motorcycle license.
The 250 will handle you driving and your wife.
No competency test. "1 down 4 up"

The law in Belize requires drivers to be 18 years of age and have an adequate license. This is the framework we operate under and have to comply with regardless if it creates disappointment with our potential customers.
Your 13 year old would however by law be allowed to be a passanger.

It is too far to make it in a day. Motobik Rentals & Alternate Adventures is located in Hopkins in the beautiful south. Hopkins is in the middle of great riding opportunities and plenty of things to see and nature to explore. It is however too far to reach in a day from a cruise ship. On your next vacation, you should come and do some biking in Belize with us. We can provide you with plenty of self-guided tours around Belize. Cheap and exiting way to explore this country.

Semuc Champey is in Guatemala. I do not allow my motorcycles outside the borders of Belize so I do not provide you with the paperwork to cross borders.
The reason why I can not allow the bikes in Guatemala is because I have no way to give you any type of support if you need such.
You may however explore anywhere in Belize on a bike.
