Always bring water, it is hot. You can only get around by 4x4 and quads or ATVs are best. There are places in town that rent if your accommodations does not. The food is excellent! Everything is farm to table no matter where you eat. We were there in November for a week and never ate at the same restaurant, other then the resort for breakfast. Sun is up from 5:30-5:30 everyday and not a lot of nightlife, everyone shuts down fairly early. I would recommend snacks in your room. There are not many options beach front, for restaurants. Please talk to locals the have the best advise!! It does not matter if you are looking for pizza or a typical Tico meal, they always point you in the right direction. We even went to a Tico hang out only open on Sundays. We speak spanglish and the waiter only spoke Spanish. A bilingual Tico was happy to translate. The food was amazing and the beer cold. Don't be afraid to explore!

Playa Hermosa is a short distance (3-4 miles north of Santa Teresa) off of the main road. Look for a small sign on the left that says "Colors" sort of faded. Take that left on rough road to ocean and Playa Hermosa (about 1/2 mile). Haven't snorkled in that area. Late June early July may be poor for snorkling since rains begin and carry sediment to ocean making beaches a little murky. I am not a good source for recommendaitons on areas to snorkel. Have done it few times in last 8 visits but not impressed. Don't get expectations up for nice visibility. Beautiful beach for more so for surfing and sunbathing. Cajundreamer
