Butterfly garden, short forest hike, waterfalls, this is a really good option for people who want to do something fun but that will not take up the whole day. The scenery is lovely, the water is clean and fresh, the butterfly garden is beautiful as long as you like butterflies. If you have the time I would highly recommend going for a visit.

Apparently there are two entrances so I can’t speak for both. The one we went to had a butterfly garden that was very nice but the hike was a little intense for our 3 year old haha. My 7 year old and I slid down the waterfall, worth the trip!

We have been there while in Uvita for whalewatching. It is just a 5 minute ride from the city. Entrance fee was really small - 4 dollars per person - included is waterfall trail, parking and butterfly garden. We really enjoyed this :)

eine tolle Erfrischung.
Am unteren Wasserfall gibt es ein Natursteinbecken. Die Mutigen können am oberen Wasserfall runter rutschen.
Vom Eingang (Preis 2000 Col) braucht man nur 5 min, die letzten Stufen über Metalleitern.

It’s very pretty…but there’s some dispute between the landowners which means that you pay 2000 colones to get in, then walk along a trail, across rocks towards the waterfall. It’s not that hard going but I wouldn’t want to do it with kids. The kicker is that the going becomes much tougher halfway up where there’s a ladder going up to a metal walkway. This is a much easier route but is manned by a security guard charging another 2000 colones to walk 50 metres along this path. A bit like the troll in Three Billy Goats Gruff!

The path that would lead to the waterfall is no more open. Visitors must follow an alternative path that leads only to a natural pool below the waterfall. To reach the waterfall, one must climb over the rocks of this basin. The full price is still charged for this experience.

Endlich Mal ein Ausflug der wenig kostet aber super schön ist! Tolle Bademöglichkeiten, toller Wasserfall und sprudeliger Bach und sogar ein tolles Schmetterlingshaus am Ende des netten, kurzen Wanderpfades ist inklusive! Eintritt nur 1.500 Colones pro Person. Absolut empfehlenswert auch mit Kindern.

A short hike to a beautiful waterfall. If you are in reasonable shape you can climb a ladder to the top and slide down the waterfall itself. One of our more memorable experiences in Costa Rica.

It was a beautiful place but it was confusing where to start. We ended up starting on the top and it was a tough way down with a 3 year old and 1 year old. If we started from the bottom we would have had a much better experience seeing the butterfly garden and not having to go down the dangerous stairs with the little kids.

Uvita Waterfalls is a small attraction that you could spend 15 minutes or 3 hours at depending on if you climb the waterfall or decide to take a swim to cool off. It is operated by locals and my guess is if they are not available to take the small fee then you would be able to just walk down the steps to the waterfall for free. I don’t recall them being closed on any certain days.
