Planning a September trip to Tuscany, it was sad to hear that Stephano passed away 4 years ago. We stumbled into the shop with classical music rolling out the front door and were warmly welcomed and delighted by our experience. RIP.

Is failliet. Pand staat leeg. Helemaal leeg. Niks meer te zien. Alles leeg. Hele dropje is uitgestorven. Kerkje en 1 supermarktje. Verder niks op de berg.

We can confirm that much to our dismay this place is closed as Stephano passed in his sleep in January 2020 due to heart attack

Era il miglior posto dove sareste potuti capitare e non perché in Chianti non ci siano enoteche, ma perché Stefano rendeva tutto meraviglioso. Vendeva vino e inventava storie e una cosa banale diventava una fiaba e tornavi bambino.
Stamattina siamo venuti a cercarlo, ma non c’è più, è venuto a mancare l’anno scorso.
Con lui vanno via gli occhi più belli del Chianti, un poeta e un soprattutto un amico. Se non lo avete conosciuto avete perso l’opportunità di conoscere una grande anima e soprattutto un grande cuore. Grazie Stefano non ti dimenticherò mai.

Local sensacional, vc fica por 1 hora lá e nem percebe o tempo passar. Vários vinhos orgânicos...Stefano foi sensacional.

My wife and I met Stefano last year at this time and made several visits during our 3 month stay. We so enjoyed him. We are now back for another 3 month stay and went to visit him this past Sunday to only find many flower arrangements on his door step with a closed in mourning sign (chuiso a lutto). We asked a local and was told that Stefano had passed away the prior week. Very sad.

This was a fantastic experience of being in the wine store. Stephano was very welcoming, engaging, charismatic and knowledgeable about the wines. He really took the time sharing his passion for wines and storytelling. We tried delicious wines that he was very generous to offer us. There were folks from Italy, Germany, and Venezuela at the store wine tasting and Stephano was translating in four languages at the same time, which was mind blowing.
We spent 1,5 in a wine store and wish we stayed even longer if it wasn’t time to leave Italy. Next time we are in Italy we’ll make a stop in Panzano just to visit with Stephano again. Highly recommend it! We were full on wine space in our bags and still had to buy and squeeze more bottles in as the wine was divine.
P.S.: I will never be able to eat chocolate paste again without the image of Stephano lol (if you visit you’ll know what I mean). Try the wine with Freddie Krugger label - it was our favorite!

Ach, ik val in herhaling lees ik... als je in Toscane bent, mag je deze tussenstop niet missen. Heel mooie wijnen, maar vooral een heel bijzonder mens en daarmee een ervaring op zich.

La degustazione è stata fantastica perché i vini sono di ottima qualità, ma si distingue dalla solite per il contributo del padrone di casa Stefano, che arricchisce con humor e racconti attraverso opere d'arte il piacere in sé dell'esperienza gustativa ed olfattiva dei suoi prodotti. Ritornerò presto perché altri amici possano godere di tutto ciò. Complimenti!!!!

A resection is not necessary. The place is casual, unique, and a very fun experience. And he has good wines to taste.
I don't know if he is open in December; I would assume so.

We are 6 adults, who will be in Florence in mid September & we are looking for an affordable wine tour. Most are very expensive & they do not seem to include the price of wine or light snacks. Can anyone tell me how much the wine samples cost per person, please. We would appreciate any guidance or recommendations.

I agree with Slaventi's recommendation - contact Stefano and set up a time to taste wines with him. He is such a delight! And he may event throw in some dessert wine or olive oil. He doesn't charge for the tasting; he's likely hoping visitors will instead purchase wine. He handles shipping to the states/Canada for you (~$100/case) or you can take a couple bottles with you to enjoy at your hotel. Walk up the street after your tasting for a snack/lunch and beautiful view il Vinnaio.

It's not necessary, but it wouldn't hurt. His shop is small and cozy. If he has a group already inside when you arrive, you may have to wait an hour or two. He opens at 11:00, which might be a good time if you don't want to book in advance.

Surprisingly there wasn't a tasting fee. However, once you try the wines you will definitely want to buy some! He is extremely reasonable with his prices and this is the perfect place to purchase the most amazing Italian wine.
