As always our trip was brilliant. Great selection of birds and friendly staff. Had food in the cage and enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

Wasn’t sure what to expect for£12.00 but was pleasantly surprised how many birds there were,approx 150.interesting info though there could be more.Staff were informative,knowledgeable and entertaining with the flying displays.Would reccommend.

Brilliant day out! Loved reading about all the birds but the best bits were the flying demonstrations. The staff are very enthusiastic and obviously love the birds and know them very well.
The cafe is good with food which is sourced locally and in the wider Yorkshire area.
There is a sense of humour displayed in a lot of the signs around the site.
Can highly recommend a visit here.

Attended the owl flying evening in February. Absolutely wonderful, the tour of the aviaries was very informative and the flying displays incredible. The meal was very good and complimented the evening.

A great place to visit, interesting both for adults and kids. We loved walking around the centre learning things about different birds, admiring them in their aviaried and collecting stamps. Flying demonstration was the highlight of the day

Wonderful, magical interesting and informative. Booked this as an aniversay gift for my husband but we both enjoyed it massively. It was a bit cold and most of the evening was outdoors but they had told us that in advance so we had many layers.
Loved the free flying displays and lots of really knowlegable staff. Nice warm filling meal. I am a little bit in love with the tiny burrowing owl and the beautiful eagle owl. We will be buying a season ticket.

We had an absolutely fabulous night on the Winter Owl Evening. We had no idea what to expect and it’s fair to say it went above all our expectations! From the warming mulled wine on arrival to the delicious meal, the very friendly team all excelled themselves. The team were very knowledgeable and it came across very clearly that they are all so passionate about their work - they must have one of the most rewarding jobs in the country! Thanks too to the kitchen team - the meal was hearty and very welcoming.

The Winter Owl Evening at Helmsley was absolutely fantastic. The staff were so friendly and I learned so much. Seeing the different owls close up was just magical and left me in awe of these beautiful creatures. A big thank you to all the brilliant staff who keep the sanctuary going- it is a real jewel.

Obviously if you don't like birds ... this isn't the place for you.
But if you want to see some amazing winged creatures both in aviaries, static displays and in flight then this place is well worth a visit.
Liked that where they have breeding pairs / chicks they are left alone, so whilst some people might consider the enclosures messy, it's for good reason.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and it was great for taking photos.

Follow the brown signs to "birds of prey centre" and "Duncombe park". We are a 2 minute drive or 12 minute walk up a slight hill through the parklands

From 11th March until 31st October demos are 11.30, 14.00 and 16.15. Outside those dates they are 11.30 and 14.00. Different birds at each demo. We never cancel because of the weather. We have 3 flying areas - the main flying ground, a sheltered woodland area and an indoor area.
