Kote Betta is an excellent place for people who love adventure and exciting sports like trekking or rock climbing. There is a temple of God Shiva situated at the top. On your way through the trekking trails, several wild animals like Sambars, Mongoose, Indian Squirrels, Gaurs, can be spotted. The slope is not too steep and the tracking trails are quite amiable therefore making it easy for people to enjoy a nice comforting Trek to the top of the hill. The view that you will be able to witness from the top of Kote betta is worth capturing for the gorgeous landscapes, clear and glistening blue sky that binds the whole ambiance together.

The trek is short, but worth the efforts. The scenery at the top is very beautiful. Would recommend this trip during the rainy and winter seasons.

Trekkers and Travellers, one of the must visit in Coorg.
From madikeri town it's about 30kms totally.
You need to travel Madhapur bridge and take the left from there, then the single straight road will take you to Kottebetta.
You can see a Arch which mentioned about Kottebetta and a Shiva temple sign.
Follow that for next 5kms you will be reaching the ancient Shiva temple.
From the Arch you can either walk or take vehicle till the temple point.
Beautiful scenic location in last 5kms drive.
Expert drivers only can drive in that road, fresher in driving can avoid the risk of taking vehicle there.
Remove your shoes/slippers near the temple entrance and walk to reach up the temple.. adjacent to the temple a small path will leqda to climb the rocks which was adventurous.
Find a time to refresh and enjoy the nature.

Highly recommend trekking the last 2 km from the vehicle check post zone. The route is highly scenic with hills on both sides and is not very steep or tough.

Breathtaking views . about an hours drive from kushalnagar centre . Road condition is not the best but drive with caution . Look for the parking area just before the last stretch of climb as the final stretch road was really bad ( my front wheel drive car lost traction ) . Heard that the steps to the temple are only open on Tuesday and you have to climb barefoot . So we could only get to the bottom as far as cars go. But did see some tourist sneak in through the locked gate.

We missed to see the Neela Kurinji covered mountain (it had dried already) ... Good view of mountains. Also Onti falls is nearby ... Don't miss it ... Beware of leeches when you are going to falls ...

We did have such a fun fun evening going up to Kote Betta. It was a shake rattle & role ride by jeep on a dirt road of sorts, to the peak base. after that It was a short rocky climb to the top from where the jeep parked. Beautiful breathtaking view of the mountains , cool lovely pure air......its worth the effort. the beautiful mountains enveloped in mist was a sight to behold!!! do NOT miss this....
The jeep hire costs anything between 2400-3000 depending on who you contact. one can haggle/bargain. Our driver was efficient & confident, pleasant & friendly person. we left our hotel at 3.30 pm and were back at the hotel before 7pm. we requested him to stop at a small water fall on the way, hence 1/2 hr got consumed there.

When the place blooms with the Neelakurinji flowers, it is like a sea of violet ,, very amazing to look at. Nice and pleasant drive.

Surely try to avoid! One stretch of the road was very bad should have worsened with the rains. Also, being rainy time, it is NOT Advised to select this place to avoid disappointment.

if u gonna take ur own car try to have some suv's .. that's best else book some jeep in local and u can reach many local jeeps will be available at madikeri town
