Built in the second half of the 15th century on the highest hill in the city, the Cathedral rises elegantly with its limestone. The façade is particular, embellished with a play of curves, with a wonderful central rose window and two smaller lateral ones. Note the beautiful bas-relief of the Virgin enthroned with the child in the lunette of the central door. Interior rich in late Baroque decorations.

Located in the historic center of Ostuni, the Cathedral is among the points of greatest interest. Gothic facade with large rose window. Latin cross interior with 3 naves with beautiful internal works. To visit.

We liked wandering in the narrow streets and the stairs in the Old Town. You need comfty shoes! The Duomo is perhaps on the highest point of the town. The Cathedrale di Santa Maria Assunta was built between 1437-1495. It’s an impressive building with beautiful rose windows on the fronts of the church. Inside my favourite parts were the ceiling and the baroque style altar (from about 1720). It’s made from stone with wooden altarpice. I think it’s worth a visit.

Cattedralle Santa Maria Assunta is the official name of this Cathedral perched on top of the White City. You walk uphill the old town winding tiny streets until you reach it.
The present Cathedral dates back to 15c built in Gothic style with marvelous Rose window on the front facade. At night it is beautifully illuminated with a bar set around it side walls.

Cathedral, cathedral of the White City, without any historical cultural verve.
Dirty environment, especially, after a wedding, without respect for normal believers.
Stairway made dangerous by thrown laughter and carelessness.

The cathedral can be reached from a small street on the left as soon as you enter the square. Located on an uphill street among souvenir shops. The centuries that have passed certainly reveal the signs of time and the mix of architecture makes it as valuable as anything found in our country. Certainly a restyling of the frescoes would give further value to this heritage, like the other works that are little appreciated in tourist terms.

Beautiful paintings on the ceiling of the Nave. Rose window was beautiful although I personally like stain glass in it.

In pieno centro storico di Ostuni si trova il Duomo, dalle dimensioni imponenti, affascinante da fuori e da dentro. Molto maleducato e fastidioso il tono dell'usciere che chiede contributi per la manutenzione. Piu che un'offerta sembra una costrizione

Compared to some of the great cathedrals in the Christian world, this building is quite modest, in both scale and decoration. The two side altars are more impressive than the central altar. Quite hard to get a good photo from outside as the building is positioned in what is now a quite small square at the top of the hill.

I will be staying in Poligano a mare what is the best way to get to Ostuni as I wont have a car. is there a local bus directly to the town.

We didn't have a car for our stay in Bari, Puglia either. ... we traveled by train everywhere. ..there is a train from Polignano a Mare to Ostuni and then we took the local bus from the rail station into town. When we visited the olive oil farm, we took a taxi from the rail station to the farm. Hope this helps...Have a great trip!

Quando l'ho visitato io (agosto 2015) ho dovuto pagare 1€. Ma ne vale sicuramente la pena.
