Vinitha was very, very kind and gave us a great experience. She took her time and helped us understand the recipes so that we could recreate the recipes back in Australia.
We had a great day with Vinitha and we couldn’t recommend her cooking class more!!

We really loved to have this cooking class with such a nice chef. We were there with our 2 kids (10 and 12 years old) and grandma/pa. The currys were absolutely delicious and we had lots of fun together. We will make the tasty recipes at home also. We wrote down all the recipes to remember the ingredients. The homemade spices smell just too good.

We loved spending time with sweet Vinitha, going to the vegetable market, fish market and spice shops in Galle. She was very helpful explaining all the different vegetables you can find in Sri Lanka, and let us choose among them for our dishes. After shopping we got to her place in Unawatuna guesthouse, and cooked up amazing curries and dishes for the next 2 hours. It's the best food I have ever had in Sri Lanka, and best way to connect with the culture and people here. We had an excellent time, drinking tea and chatting with Vinitha the whole class. I really recommend her class!

I Had a very nice cooking class with vinitha. Easy yet delicious curry recipes that you can prepare as well in your home country. I had thousands of rice and curry in Sri lanka. But the one we prepared was the best one.

Great cooking class ! A must do if you stay around to break a beach day. Vinitha is taking time to explain all the details of the recipes, made with only fresh ingredients. 7 courses menu. And last but not least, it was the most delicious food that we had in Sri Lanka. Thanks Vinitha and looking forward to come back during our next trip in Unawatuna.

Today we had a great cooking class at Vinitha‘s house. First we went to the local market to shop some ingredients for our curries. Afterwards we went to her house to cook in her outdoor kitchen. We prepared the food together and Vinitha made sure that we have the recipes to recreate the dishes at home 😊 We learned quite a lot and it was interesting to see how to produce coconut milk.
The food was super tasty and Vinitha was a great host and teacher. If you are looking for a cooking class you should go to her place.

We had a fantastic time with Vinitha. This is a wonderful cooking class- you are taken by TukTuk to the old town market in Galle to pick your provisions, followed by a really good cooking class. Vinitha is an amazing cook and the lessons have been transferred to cooking home back in England. Especially loved the sticky aubergine curry and daal which has become a home staple. An absolute must.

We started our cooking class with Vinitha at the local market buying the ingredients for many curries plus a visit to the spice shop. A nice start to the cooking class as it gave us a much better idea about some of the ‘local’ vegetables before they ended up in our curries. The kitchen setup is excellent and provides a good opportunity to assist with food prep plus see what’s happening with the cooking. We made seven curries from scratch and were very pleased with our efforts. Vinitha is a wonderful hostess as well as cook and really provided a enjoyable and fun cooking experience. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed it a lot. Food was delicious and we picked our own ingredients in the market. We would have maybe liked to have done more cooking ourselves instead of having it done for us. Some parts we were just watching. It would’ve good to have a separate station for each person. Just an idea. We still had a great time!

hey guys! everyone makes the cooking class sound so wonderful. do you have any idea what the cost for two people would be? it sounds amazing but we're on a pretty tight budget

no problem, if i can remember it costs around Rp2000 per person, this includes a trip to Galle vegetable market where you buy all the vegetables which you need for the class. This is included in the price. If you require meat (chicken) or fish (Tuna) curry, then you have to buy this separately, Tuna is cheaper than Chicken. If you require Tuna you will also visit a local fish market, you will pass it on the way to the vegetable market by the side of the road. You will pay a local price for the fish and not the tourist rate which is normal double, cost is around Rp400 - 600 depending on size (1kg). hope this helps

Hi. I will be at Unawatuna from 25th December to 27th nights. I would like to attend a cookery class to learn authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
I have basic cooking knowledge of Indian food and some western food already.
