Monticchiello is always a jewel to visit and admire. Overlooking the wonderful and colorful Val D'Orcia is that balcony from which the gaze travels to Pienza and beyond to the distant slopes of Amiata and Cetona. Beautiful plots of color of the meadows and crops where majestic pines rise that cover and protect long rows of vineyards and scattered "flocks" of olive trees. Quietness reigns supreme and you can hear the echo of the footsteps that resonate between the alleys made of shade and sun. On the doors of the houses the elderly knit and chat while the respectful tourists touch those images of a past time but still alive. The only problem that still persists is the scarcity of parking spaces. In the evening the warm rays of the sun make the fields shine, which slowly darken as the timid stars begin to shine in the sky. Go visit it because it is something rare.

I visited this small and characteristic village on Recommendation of a person I met at the hotel in Chianciano.
The first impression was that of the characteristic small village , typical of the area , perched on the hill .
We toured the village, looking around and visiting the beautiful church with frescoes.
Having noticed the indication of the tourist information office we contacted the staff present. Very kindly they provided us with a map of the village and gave us several directions on the routes and things to see.
As soon as we left, while we were looking at the map , we were approached by a gentleman who was present in the information office , who in addition to this performs many other functions such as newsagent , bar , drug distribution , convenience store and more .
This person initially gave us some directions and then acted as a Guide around the country in a route of about an hour.
He told us about the history of the country and explained many things about the life of the country, from the battles of the Middle Ages to the present day.
It was a fantastic experience from which we learned many things.
But the most important thing is that without him we could not fully appreciate the many beauties of the country.
For this I would like to thank this wonderful person that Mr. Guido Caciotti , for his helpfulness and courtesy , but above all for passing on some of his knowledge .
I think it would be a wonderful service if we could organize guided tours of the country like the one we did.
In any case, one Recommendation I leave to those who will read this review, is to go and ask for information from the information office that is in the center of the village next to the church.

The town is great, extremely peaceful with empty streets and remarkable views of the neighboring Tuscan hills. There is a very convenient parking lot, and the whole town can be toured in about an hour.

In a jewel set in the Val d'Orcia, with a wonderful, breathtaking view of the hills and lots of peace. Enchanting village all in stone, all well looked after where the simplicity of these places reigns with few shops.

We did not plan to visit but when it was impossible to park our car in Pienza and we drove along the sign of this small cute town we decided to stop.
The centre is small and just nice to stroll around and enjoy the views. There are some very good restaurants in this town and we appreciated the absence of the crowds.

Piccola realtà della compagna senese. Veramente carino e ben curato. Nonostante la visita possa essere di breve durata, è molto interessante soffermarsi sui molti angoli caratteristici del paese.

Non tutti lo sanno, ma moltissime foto considerate "iconiche" e che vengono etichettate con la generica definizione di Toscana, sono state scattate proprio nel territorio di Monticchiello, un piccolo splendido borgo arrampicato su un poggio, a pochissimi chilometri da Pienza e in piena Val d'Orcia. Per arrivarci si esce dalla strada provinciale e si percorre una salita che già di per sé è iconica, delimitata dal classico doppio filare di cipressi. Il borgo è una piccola delizia, difeso dalle mura che nella storia hanno consentito di man tenere un'orgogliosa indipendenza, vive di una vita proprio con il suo museo e con l'attività del teatro di strada che copre quasi tutto l'arco dell'anno con vari spettacoli. Uno dei tanti gioielli di una zona che incanterebbe chiunque.

Le spiagge sono troppo snob per i miei gusti, condotti sono un po' confusi, Pinnacoli fin troppo pendenti e infine e il boschetto è alquanto bisunto, grazie. 👍👍👍👍😘😘😘.

Meraviglioso davvero, parcheggio libero. Molto caratteristico da visitare sicuramente, panorami da mozzafiato e borgo bellissimo, molto ben curato.
