The old town is a beautiful village to explore far and wide, especially the aqueduct and the Jewish ghetto; from the end of the square there is a belvedere that allows you to enjoy beautiful sunsets. It is well maintained and properly valued

The village is very nice, and quaint. Unfortunately we haven't been able to see the path of the Etruscan quarries, but I think it's interesting for those who have a bit of adventure spirit.

Historical hundred very well maintained. Several places of interest (Palazzo Orsini above all). Several views of the valleys below. Many places to eat and several parking lots (for a fee) quite close to the entrance of the Center.

Little Jerusalem is definitely worth a visit, walking in the alleys of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy is priceless. The synagogue, the aqueduct and above all the view are worth every kilometer traveled to reach it. Furthermore, an infinite number of typical restaurants welcome you...

Pitigliano is a very nice town, also called "little Jerusalem" because there is an important Jewish community. The town is practically perched on top of a tuff promontory and seeing it from afar is fascinating, it almost looks like a gigantic nativity scene. The cathedral (the cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul) is beautiful in baroque style, even if the tower is original, made of tuff. The church of Santa Maria and San Rocco is also very beautiful and is perhaps the oldest in the center of Pitigliano. Palazzo Orsini is also beautiful and in front of it is the Fontana delle Sette Cannelle, but the feature that makes the town recognizable from afar is the Medici Aqueduct which, in addition to being a stupendous work of art, is also an ingenious work that allows the distribution of water for the whole country.

Very beautiful and evocative country, you suddenly find it in front of you after a bend and you can't do anything but stop and photograph it….
Arriving in the center you can find parking quite well, both near the center and the cemetery/market area and football field…
The square and the entire historic center are beautiful
Very well served by bars and restaurants,
There is no shortage of shops selling typical products and souvenirs…..an excellent place to spend a day

The historic center of Pitigliano is located overlooking an imposing tufaceous cliff, beneath which ancient populations settled, including the Etruscans. Very similar to the historic tufaceous centers of the Tuscia area of Viterbo, it is characterized by narrow alleys and small squares, as well as splendid monuments.
The town is also known by the nickname of "Little Tuscan Jerusalem", for having hosted, already in remote times, vast Jewish communities, who built their own Synagogue here, and were able to thrive in a tolerant climate.
Unfortunately, due to the recent tensions that have erupted between Israel and Gaza, the Synagogue is closed to visits and guarded by military troops, capable of foiling any threat of attacks against symbolic places of Jewish worship.
While waiting for the Synagogue to host tourists again, in the climate of tolerance that has always characterized this place in the Maremma, a visit to the village is absolutely recommended.

La strada per arrivare in centro e’molto tortuosa?chiedo perche’purtroppo mia madre sta male in auto quando ci sono strade impegnative con curve e salite

La strada per arrivare in paese rispecchia la normalità della zona, un paio di tornanti, salite e discese, non larghissima ma gestibile
Però in centro non si può entrare coi mezzi, bisogna cercare posto nei parcheggi solitamente a pagamento esterni alla zona pedonale

si può parcheggiare nei parcheggi dentro il paese?o è tutta zona ztl...altrimenti c'è un parcheggio anche a pagamento senza dover camminare troppo? grazie

Ciao, c'è un parcheggio prima di entrare in centro. Prima di arrivare in paese, trovi una curva a U molto stretta, dalla e dopo prosegui dritto per 100 m, avanti dritto infili una strada sulla destra (la strada principale fa una leggera curva a sinistra, praticamente prosegui dritto). In questa stradina trovi un parcheggio a pagamento molto vicino al centro

Salve, si può parcheggiare a pagamento, prima di entrare nel centro storico, girando a destra e percorrendo una salita che porta alla via panoramica e al cimitero poi, oppure, allontanandosi leggermente, cercare tra le strade dell'area urbana nella speranza di trovarne qualcuno libero.
C'è anche la possibilità di trovarne qualcuno a pagamento nel centro storico, fino al limite della ztl, ma sono pochi, ci vuole fortuna.

How is the public transportation in Pitigliano ? We like to travel by bus or train and have done it frequently from Siena, but has anyone experience doing this from Pitigliano ?

Pitigliano itself is all walkable. We visited it twice this Spring and always found a place to park right outside of the historic center. In Google it seems there is some public transport. See: “tuttopitigliano” It’s worth a visit the whole zone but by car would be worth it to get around to the various “Borghi”. If you have other questions just get in touch.

Vicino al centro, Piazza Petruccioli, percorrendo la Strada Regionale 74 maremmana, lasciandoti alle spalle il centro e uscendo da Pitigliano, lungo la strada trovi dei posteggi e arrivi comodamente a piedi in centro.
