Medieval bridge on the bases of a pre-existing Roman bridge. Of course, the Romans did not build cutwaters downstream, nor with slopes, when it was a causeway, nor pointed arches. Very pleasant and pedestrianized environment.

It is essential to cross the Roman bridge. In addition to appreciating its construction and the fact that it still remains stable today, it is very pleasant to visit the garden that surrounds it and observe the construction and its setting in the landscape.

Beautiful old pedestrian bridge - hard on suitcases though if you are walking from the train station (as we were). Excellent views up and down the river. Worth checking it out if you are in town.

Il ponte rispecchia i fasti dell'antica Roma, bellissima struttura di pietra. E' bello fare una passeggiato dato che è completamente pedonabile.

Este puente de orígenes romano es el emblema de la ciudad y durante dos milenios ha sido el motor económico de la ciudad por su importancia estratégica en el cruce de caminos y vías comerciales.
De sus orígenes sólo se conservan las arcadas de los laterales siendo la central, la más espectacular terminada con éxito allá por el siglo XVII.
Su aspecto es imponente y monumental, visto sobre el terreno mejora cualquiera de las previsiones más optimistas sobre la belleza de su factura.

Ponte Romana is an stone bridge located in Ourense, the main city in the province, in Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. It was firstly built in the first century aC, pitifully it was damaged and it was totally reconstructed in the 14th Century. You can see it from the Contemporary Milenial Bridge. It is nice to see the river and the old town.

Arrivati in prossimità del ponte non lo si riesce a scorgere bene perché è nascosto dagli alberi. Le indicazioni dovrebbero portati ad un buon punto d’osservazione. Oltretutto non è neanche romano (solo le fondamenta) ma medievale.

Interesante puente romano, que fue reformado unos 1000 años después de su construcción al hundirse parcialmente, el de ahora tiene una inclinación importante.
