The wait and crowd to get squeezed onto the cable car
"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
... as part of my quest to use every method of ascent to every location in the Chamonix Valley.
This one starts on the street, easily accessible from bus #1.
The wait to get into the cable car was long and it was crowded and narrow and uncomfortable to stand on narrow steps.
At the top, I hiked some of the forested pathways of the Grand Balcon Nord and also went to the abandoned Bellevue Hotel and saw and watched the train stop of the Tramway du Mont Blanc.
... and then it rained
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It was covered by the Mont Blanc MultiPass
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?

Lovely view at the top, weather was good and we sat and had a coffee from the little cafe. Price was reasonable and the ride was quite smooth. The cabin wasn’t overcrowded and at regular intervals

Great !!! Went on this cable car to the top of the mountain, breathtaking views when you get to the top.
Little cafe at the top were you can get a choice of sandwiches, waffles, drinks, great place to sit and people watch.
Very relaxing, good for hikers. Cost around €20

Great cablecar up to the top of the mountain. Clean and very stable car. About €20 roundtrip. Small restaurant at the top. Sandwiches for €7, great salad for €16,20, beer and other drinks. Hiking trails at the top.

Ayant pas perdu ma carte à 12h20 ayant fait ma carte 10 minutes avant la station te fait payer 28 € pour refaire ta carte. C’est totalement honteux, pour invite à bout de plastique. Et en ayant eu à faire à la même personne 10 minutes avant.

We rode the telepherique to start our TMB hike. The ride was nice, although we did have to wait 5 minutes or so for our operator to join us and start the cabin on its upward journey. From the top, the views over the Chamonix valley spread out below us were lovely. We paid about €15 per person for the ride, but it saved us a lot of hiking elevation, and would also be a nice opportunity for a day hiker to get views over the valley and a shorter hike.

Idéal pour avoir accès aux sentiers au-dessus des Houches. Nous avons simplement pris l'aller et fait le retour à pied.

Vandaag met deze gondel naar boven gegaan. Vanwege COVID-19 met mondkapjes in de gondel; je reist namelijk met meerdere personen staand naar boven. Eenmaal aangekomen genoten van het uitzicht met een cappuccino en richting Prarion. Een vrij makkelijke wandeling met brede paden. De wandeling nog verlengd naar de top van de Prarion. Dit was een fijne verlenging van een klein uurtje, smallere steilere paden en uiteindelijk een mooi uitzicht. Via een rondje weer terug en met de gondel naar beneden. Hier een gondel voor ons eigen gezin ( kinderen van 10-14-16 jaar)en zittend. De wandeling andersom maken- dus starten met de Prarion is misschien mooier omdat je tijdens het lopen dan kijkt naar de Mont Blanc. De afstand van de stations beneden is ongeveer 10 minuten lopen.

Montée en 5 min, déjeuner à " la chalette" 50 euros pour 3 burgers et boissons ( très bons ). Descente pour les houches à pied en 2h30 ( indiquer 1h40) à ne pas faire avec des petits car passage en fôrest pas facile du tout !

please can any one confirm the cable car is running between Jan30 2019 to Jan 3rd 2020

It was running in July 2019, no idea about other dates, but as Les Houches is a ski area I would expect it to be running. There ia probably a web site for theresort with the info on it.
