We stayed at Chi Phat over a 4 night break
We arrived collected by boat prearranged at Andeong Tuk. 2 hour transfer by boat with river all to ourselves. Boat costs $30
Alternative is moto which us $7 per person and good fun
We did one day hike to bat cave and waterfall. Good jungle scenery a good hike. We had packed lunch wrapped in Banana leaves. 19km hike. Generally very flat with small areas of moderate incline. Good guide, Rothar who picked up on our interests.
On the strength of this good experience the next day we booked a day and half overnight jungle hike along different route. This trip incorporated sunrise bird trip so don't book both. We left we guide and chef with rucksacks equipped with hammock, blanket two 1.5l water and our basic equipment. You need leg covering and arm covering too. You need deet, sun protection and extra blanket or warm nightware if like us you go in December. A few sweets would have been good.
We embarked on boat at 5.30am trailing a canoe. After a while we transferred to canoe onto a tributary to see more wildlife. There wasn't any. Which was fine. It was beautiful
Back in boat and disembarked for 7km trek. Good jungle walk. It is a trail but our guide needed machete to get thru at places
Some uphill but not much
Lunch on river freshly cooked. Delicious
At camp at again. There's a loo and you wash in river. It was dark by 6pm
At dawn awoken by hornbills. Saw gibbons in jungle. Walked thru forest then an open plain. Good flora. Elephant dung but no elephants.
Lunch at guides house then walked back to main village.
Very good value. Fantastic experience

We did a private jungle tracking with 1 night in a hammock. It was an exciting experience. We had lunch at a small water with lots of beautiful butterflies, enjoyed a delicious lunch created there by our chef and saw birds and even a gibbon which was a real bonus. If you are lucky you even can see elephants at the waterhole.
At the end of the trip we had lunch at the guides home where we have experienced the real cambodian life.

We went as a couple and were not after a fancy holiday, but much more an adventure which was what we got. The staff at the office were so welcoming and friendly and planned everything that we asked of them. We were able to book a jungle trek for the next day on arrival, we booked a homestay on arrival also. The homestay was a really great experience for us as we had been staying in hotels previously. We really enjoyed our time at Chi Phat and learned quite a bit about the village from the guides on the trek and the locals.
The local bus we took to get back to Phnom Penh was the only part I would not recommend. Get the boat or the scooter back to Andoueng Tuek. The local bus was broken, I had to sit in the middle of two seats (so on a gap) on the worst most bumpy road out of the village and then for a further 6 hours! This wasn't the communities fault, we asked to be booked on to this bus as we heard from another traveller that it was cheap.
Apart from that-all great!
The local bus we took to get back to Phnom Penh was the only part I would not recommend. Get the boat or the scooter back to Andoueng Tuek. Fantastic village!
The local people are beautiful and truly want to look after you. The children love to learn new words in English and to show you the pretty places for pictures ! Keep in mind that this is realy an authentic place to visit, wonderful but not your average holiday destination. The best part of our visit to cambodia was seeing how the locals of Chi Phat lived and going to visit the wildlife release station. We would like to return for a trip to the water falls and to see the bat caves. If you ask to speak to Leyhay he will help you with anything :). Great tour guide. Oh would recommend not to visit in the hotest season of the year like we did, 41 degrees was too much for my weak english immune system :). Also make sure you walk to the river at sunset :) one of the children told us too and he was right, magical views ! you can even spot HUGE otters!

A big Tip. Don’t bother with online booking on their website. I booked 6 months in advance then when I reconfirmed 2 weeks before, it was obvious they had no record of my booking, so I filled in their form again and got an emailed acknowledgement, When we arrived, they had no record of any booking!
A lot is made of you not being able to choose the actual accommodation, only the kind of place. This is wrong, when you arrive, you are asked where you would like. Some places are miles from the village, some are very basic, for $15 a night we chose bungalows at Sun Bear - off the main road but only 400 metres from the office. It was a good choice with a spotlessly clean, well-equipped newly built room in a shady garden. Food here is exceptionally good and incredibly cheap.
Food in the office canteen is OK, tasty and not too expensive for very filling meals although there was no sign of the coffee at breakfast we were told was available.
We didn’t find visiting the village cheap however. If you don’t want to wait for the scheduled boat - It waits for the Phnom Penh bus to arrive around 1.30pm - you pay $30 to hire the whole boat for the 2 hour transfer. Only motorbike transport is available by the 45 minute road journey (cost $7) - no use if you have bigger bags.
If you have plenty of time and energy, the guided cycle rides get good reports, some walks less so. One American walker was hacked off to walk about 12 km back to the village along the hot, dusty road at the end of a 2 day trek. ‘You would have thought motorbikes could have picked us up as that part of the walk wasn’t pleasant,’ he told us.
If you use their village trail map, beware, it isn’t accurate. The path around the ‘round pond’ leaving the village isn’t distinct, we found ourselves way off route, missing that part of the ride. Also the supposedly picturesque section to butterfly island needs a helicopter as the bridge is down and the pretty path could be renamed dusty narrow lane with nothing to see.
In main tourist Dry Season the waterfall and rapids are reduced to a trickle, but they are both good places to stop in the shade.
ALSO They tried to overcharge us $10 for the return boat. Despite us paying $30 for the boat, another couple joined us which wasn't a problem, except the fare is $10 per person. Only after I made a fuss was I returned $10. Yes - I can afford $10, but this was a blatant tourist rip-off.

Chi Phat is very poorly managed: it is the worst tourism experience I had in Cambodia and I've been living here for 3 years. We spent only 1 day 2 nights there and simply NOTHING worked: we spent our time on the phone, had so many problems about everything, the "trek" was just walking on the road under the sun for 28km with the motorbikes passing by, half of the activities mentioned were not available, the guide was not English-speaking, and among other problems (like being abandoned in Andong Teuk at 8PM and having to find a guesthouse by ourselves) we were scammed for the bus tickets, sold 13 USD instead of 5 USD, for a broken bus overbooked (so we didn't even have a proper seat). In a word: DO NOT GO THERE. It is a very stressful and frustrating experience, absolutely NOT holidays.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in Chi Phat in early may 2018. We chose a 2 day/1 night bike tour from many activities we could choose from. The biking was leveled as "hard". We are frequent bikers and managed the tour well but were very sweaty and exhausted after it. The first day we drove on jungle tracks which were sometimes slippery, lots of roots and plants (very much fun if you like biking like this :-) on the second day most of the track was downhill with technically hard and adventurous tracks, the last kilometers are on a flat and wide road - very easy but very very very hot.
The night in the jungle was interesting and good organised. Hammocks, food, roof, even a little jungle-toilet-house was provided. The 2 local guides took good care of us, we visited a nearby waterhole to see animals and the second day we swam in the wonderful cold water of a waterfall! We had a marvelous time!!

We went for a one day mountain bike trek to the local waterfalls and back which is about 20km total. Our guide Khom was very helpful and took good care of us on the trip. He is very knowledgeable of the area and told us about lots of the local nature and wildlife. We seen a small snake, chickens and plants/veg such as wild ginger, peppermint and lemongrass. We crossed a river and Khom helped us over with the mountain bikes as the current was quite strong. The waterfalls were stunning and we went swimming there and stopped for lunch. Great photo opportunities along the way! It was quite exhausting in the heat but totally worth it! Chi Phat are a not for profit organisation and all money goes back in to the local areas infrastructure so you know all the money you spend there is helping the lives of local people. Highly recommend the visit for a few days.

An amazing experience all round. We loved our homestay (The Blossom Headed Parakeet) and found the staff at the community centre really helpful and friendly. The one day an one night tour of the jungle was amazing and definitely the best thing we have done on our 4 month trip around SE Asia. Our guide spoke perfect English and the jungle cook on the trek made us the most wonderful food. Sleeping in the jungle was an experience will never forget and we will never forget Chi Phat, what a brilliant project!
A quick note to those who expect to turn up and explore without a guide. Firstly the tour we did could definitely not have been done without a guide, secondly why bother? You are missing the whole point of the project. By getting a tour you are supporting the community and the project itself. Don't expect to be welcomed with open arms if you aren't supporting the project :)

Il y a un problème avec la communauté de Chi Phat, qui n'a rien d’écologique malgré le titre ( qui est une manière d’obtenir des subventions au Cambodge, et puis personne ne vérifie ensuite).
L’accueil n'est pas très chaleureux, et surtout cette communauté à une exclusivité qu'ils ont imposée au village.
On ne peut louer des bicyclettes ailleurs...! et donc c'est le prix le plus cher qu'on ait vu au Cambodge, dans ce bled au milieu des forêts. Lorsque vous arrivez en bus et que vous voulez atteindre le village, ils font des prix élevés pour le taxi ou le bateau. Alors que si on connaît on peut trouver pour pas cher un bus collectif.Mais comme cette communauté (qui d’ailleurs semble avoir vu disparaître une grosse somme de ses comptes (? )...a l’exclusivité et ben le touriste paye cher ! Par chance on avait des amis qui nous ont permis ensuite pour le retour de ne pas passer par eux.
Et pour le logement aller directement aux guesthouses !

Bonjour,
Je pars au Cambodge fin février et je serais intéressée par un trek dans la jungle de 1 ou 2 nuits. J'aimerais savoir si vous avez les coordonnées de cette organisation et s'il est nécessaire de réserver à l'avance. Egalement si vous aviez une idée des prix, et si le trek est fort physique?
