My friend and I had a session with Filipe and it was the best! Neither of us had surfed before and by the end we were riding the waves! It was so much fun! Obrigada Filipe - it was the highlight of our holiday :)

On February 13, 2024, my wife and I booked a vacation rental through VACASA, for a house in Ocean View, Delaware (15 Sycamore Street - Bear Trap Dunes). The total cost for this house for seven days was $9,862.28; a significant sum for a retired couple. We booked this to accommodate my wife and me, our two sons, and seven of our grandchildren. We were planning on treating our family to a "high-end" experience in Delaware near the beach.
We paid the rental fee in two installments; $4,931.14 was paid on February 13, 2024 and the final installment, $4,931.14, was paid on May 20, 2024 as agreed. We were scheduled to arrive at the house on Saturday, June 29, 2024 and check out on the following Saturday, July 6, 2024.
We arrived at the house on the afternoon of Saturday, June 29, 2024 and noticed there were two refuse bins (one for garbage and the other for recycling) in the driveway near the garage that were full of garbage bags/garbage and were overflowing with garbage bags on the ground next to the bin. This was our first impression. Apparently this was refuse from the prior guests at the house.
Due to the terms of the rental agreement as I interpreted them, I felt that it was incumbent on me to remove the garbage and it was necessary as a practical matter to ensure we had sufficient space for our family's refuse during the week. I removed the garbage to the appropriate location.
Upon entering the house we assessed the accommodations and began the planning for our stay during the week. We noticed there were three coffee makers, one of which was a Keurig coffee maker, in the kitchen, so when we picked up grocery supplies we purchased several "k-cups." When we returned to the house, we found the Keurig coffee maker was not working. We also found the refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen was not working properly. We also noted the air conditioning system did not seem to be working properly on the main floor of the house. It was unable to adequately set the indoor temperature to 70 degrees. We noticed that when the outdoor temperature is above 90 degrees with high humidity, the indoor temperature on the main floor would get no cooler than 77 degrees.
I called the service number provided in the VACASA application on my cell phone and reported these items early on Sunday, June 30, 2024. I was told someone would be out to correct the items. I was asked if I wanted to be contacted by telephone when someone is scheduled to arrive at the house and I informed the employee that I did want to have a telephone call in advance. The only contact we experienced was when a man arrived at the house on Monday afternoon with a heat/cool sensor, checked the refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen, verified the problem, informed my son that he would send a repairman out. He did not address the issue with the coffee maker nor the air conditioning. I did not receive a telephone call informing me of this man being sent to our home.
Later in the week on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, my daughter-in-law was at the house with my grandson. She was taking a nap when someone, apparently a repairman, arrived at the house. My grandson answered the door and informed the man he did not know where his parents were (his mother was asleep in another room). The repairman left and never returned. Again, I did not receive a telephone call informing me of this man being sent to the house. We had to make trips to the store to purchase bags of ice for the entirety of our stay.
We also experienced other issues with our stay that diminished our vacation which I will list below:
1). Garbage piled in two bins in the driveway near the garage upon arrival on Saturday, June 29, 2024. I had to remove and dispose of the garbage.
2). The Keurig coffee maker was not working.
3). Air conditioning is not working properly on the first floor.
4). Inadequate supplies provided (toilet paper, no Kleenex tissues, no dishwasher detergent, empty spare propane tank, no dish towels). We had to spend time going out to purchase all of these items with the exception of the propane. Also, with inadequate supply of dishwasher detergent you still require the dishwasher to be run before you leave the house the last day.
5). Window blinds in several of the windows were broken and not functioning properly. We were unable to open/close the blinds in those windows to allow light inside and have privacy inside at night.
6). Garage was in disarray. This is a problem because the table tennis table and foosball table were located in the garage and it was difficult for my grandchildren to utilize these features due to the unkempt manner of the area. It was a very unprofessional appearance for a rental home that we paid so much to acquire.
5). The shower drain in the master bedroom was very slow to drain; when taking a shower after a minute, you were standing in water up to your ankles.
We reported the problems early in our stay however, your company was unresponsive to our issues. This had the effect of diminishing our vacation experience. It would be understandable for problems/issues to arrive, but there was no attempt to address any of the issues.
As I indicated in an email I sent on Friday, July 5, 2024, this was our first (and likely last) experience with VACASA and we are extremely disappointed. We paid nearly $10,000.00 for seven days in this house and although the area is nice, the condition of this house and particularly the lack of response to our concerns make this a very bad experience. We believe the advertisement for this house misrepresented the condition.
I received a response to the email from "Benjie O." on Sunday, July 7, 2024 offering an apology and denying my request for a refund of a significant portion of the amount we paid. There is no way this house was worth nearly $10,000.00; the value was less than half of that even considering it was a holiday week during the summer. Our family vacation at this house did not meet expectations and the customer service from VACASA absolutely did not meet our expectations. We feel like we wasted our money on this rental.
We wanted you to be aware of this issue with this property. I have left a review of this property (however it has not been published) and VACASA and we are contemplating how we can share our experience with others looking to find vacation rentals.

Tem excelente localização (vista sobre o mar), decoração engraçada e musica ambiente decente.
Lamentavelmente tem um serviço de mesa que nem podemos apelidar de fraco. É lamentável.
No total haveriam 20 a 30 clientes (com boa vontade...) para 4 empregados mesa e 1 de balcão. O serviço literalmente não flui porque os empregados preferem conversar, circular entre mesas, ou pura e simplesmente se esquecem dos pedidos.
Uma empregada, jovem, foi incapaz de responder a esta questão na mesa ao lado: "Têm saladas de quê?". A resposta para espanto geral foi: "Levam alface, tomate, cenoura....o resto esqueci."
Pedi uma cerveja, cocktail elaboradíssimo como é sabido. Ao fim 20 minutos fui perguntar ao balcão porque não tinha a minha cerveja. Resposta calma e natural: "Esqueci, desculpa."
As actividades de restauração, hotelaria em vez de chorar a falta de pessoal deviam cativar e formar os elementos das suas equipas. Premiar a competência. Isto assim não é caminho.

Tres décevant …
Cadre bien de l’extérieur mais à l’intérieur expérience catastrophique.
Personnel inexistant, nous avons attendu 10min avant d’entrer dans le bar, puis 30 min avant d’avoir la carte, car nous avions demandé.
Personnel se fichant de la clientèle, sur leur téléphone.
Quand nous avons demander pour commander, la serveuse nous a rembarrer en disant qu’elle était occupée et qu’elle allait revenir vers nous.
Nous sommes partis, c’était plus judicieux

Good food with really good service as well, the beach in front of the place is amazing, NICE LOCATION!! and the ambient of the restaurant 10/10

Péssimo atendimento no geral!
Além do tempo de espera e da ridiculamente parca quantidade das porções, o preço é demasiado elevado para a qualidade do serviço.
No final sentimo-nos escorraçados.
É certo que não voltaremos a repetir...

Comida boa! Mas péssimo atendimento. - Não volto nunca mais. Perderam 2 clientes.
O rapaz que estava a servir não sabia nenhumas informações. Nem sobre o menu que supostamente estaria ali a representar, nem do restaurante, pois não sabia nem sequer a que horas que abria o restaurante.
A rapariga, alta e de cabelos encaracolados - Além de demorada, extremamente mal educada. Quando foi entregar a conta, bateu com força na mesa. Pedi para ser atendida por outra pessoa e fez como se nada fosse, ignorou-me. Até vir outro rapaz (o único simpático do restaurante), para receber o pagamento.

Serviço entre o mau e o péssimo, empregados desinteressados, desatentos e com pouca a nenhuma consideração em manter os demais clientes dentro do respeito das regras relativas ao uso de máscara. Ao ponto deles mesmos entrarem e saírem até da cozinha sem máscara. Quanto à comida, a carne seca (provavelmente congelada), molho de alho sem gosto nem alho, o prato vegan de quinoa e almondegas vegetarianas, absolutamente intragável, impossível apontar 1 defeito, todo o prato era defeito. Para finalizar arroz com sabor, e textura de borracha. Resultado 80 euros mandados fora, comida mandada fora, e um staff que foi incapaz de ver a comida toda na mesa e perguntar se alguma coisa estava errada. E a cereja no topo do bolo, um senhor que andava dentro e fora da cozinha, que passeava pela sala, sem máscara, que passou o final da nossa refeição a fitar-nos enquanto fingia falar no telemóvel com uma atitude de segurança em miniatura. Fomos lá com a referencia de boa comida, saímos com uma desilusão imensurável

Dr Bernard Surf School is great for all ages. The kids did an all day, all week including lunch before which was great, but this time we parents joined in for lessons with the teenager. Wow! Such a great experience that we ended up going back for two weeks almost every day. The instructors are the nicest, most talented you will find. They can get everyone up standing and surfing and provide more advanced tips as you go. They can keep everyone safe and happy, even in red flag conditions. Everyone from the boss to the reception are very kind and helpful. Portuguese, Spanish, French and English are all spoken -- and maybe more! The restaurant is a nice place to drink and eat too. Don't like the waves one day? You can also rent skateboards, which are great all along the beach.

Vim com a minha irmã beber uma sangria com vista para o mar e optamos por ir ao Dr Bernard pela decoração chamativa , pois so mesmo a decoração vale a pena após 30 min de espera a porta que nos deixassem entrar e não era por falta de mesa sentámo-nos tivemos mais 30 minutos a espera que nos trouxessem a carta pois não existe a opção de de QR code. Vimos a carta acendemos um cigarro e tivemos 45 minutos para que tirassem o nosso pedido os empregados estavam todos no balcão a conversar e simplesmente ignoraram quando fizemos sinal para vir a mesa.
Tiraram o pedido e pedimos um cinzeiro demourou mais 30 minutos para que trouxessema sangria e o cinzeiro nunca cegou .
Descontentes com o péssimo atendimento pedimos o livro de reclamações ao qual a empregada se recusou a dar e devo referir que a própria andava a servir as mesas com o nariz descoberto pela máscara
Ja para também nao falar dos 4 copos que mandamos para traz sujos e voltaram sujos
Simplesmente não recomendo
Tiraram o pedido e pedimos um cinzeiro demourou mais 30 minutos para que trouxessema sangria e o cinzeiro nunca cegou .
Descontentes com o péssimo atendimento pedimos o livro de reclamações ao qual a empregada se recusou a dar e devo referir que a própria andava a servir as mesas com o nariz descoberto pela máscara
Ja para também nao falar dos 4 copos que mandamos para traz sujos e voltaram sujos
Simplesmente não recomendo
