Not much to write about. Sacred place to visit in absolute silence and prayer. A lot of people from all over the world. A kilometer line that never ended. Place to visit absolutely.

It is "Solo" a hut without lavish marble to adorn it.
It is small, so much so that even alone you feel in company.
But it is there that Christ resides, not in the preciously decorated basilicas, not in the rich sacristies.
The Lord inhabits that "house" more than any other church.
You breathe in the scent that is in the air, you can see in the eyes of those who pass through it.
He enters the burning heart of those who want to meet him and goes there.

The Porziuncola, located inside the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, is a very important place in the history of Saint Francis of Assisi, being among the churches repaired by him and which saw the beginning of the Franciscan movement. Small in size it still retains its original structure from the 1300s.

I have been to the Porziuncola Museum twice, the last time in March 2023, and I take this opportunity to write a second review (underlining that the profile concerns the MUSEUM, which deserves attention in itself apart from the Porziuncola: yet the word museum is not difficult ).
The environment is part of the Santa Maria degli Angeli complex, you can usually visit it after the Basilica, and it is the only paid section, but at very reasonable prices. I would recommend it because, even if visits to Assisi generally focus on religious buildings rather than museums, the collection, although not very vast, can offer a true concentration of the spirit of the city and its history: religious art, Franciscanism (in its historical evolution), monasticism.
Among the other works on display, a crucifix by Giunta Pisano, a well-known portrait of Saint Francis perhaps by Cimabue, a reredos by Andrea della Robbia, and numerous sacred furnishings from the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli stand out. The visit can end by going up to the Conventino, once the accommodation area for the friars.

Neanche io sono particolarmente di fede religiosa,ma San Francesco,di cui tutta Assisi è permeata,vale una visita.La Porziuncola è veramente una mini chiesetta,suggestiva e molto ben curata,sembra adagiata all'interno della chiesa che la contiene ... forse è proprio così !

Noi originari di vicino Loreto la apprezziamo ma non rimaniamo stupiti come la maggior parte dei turisti; la chiesetta è una meraviglia nella Chiesa principale, un gioiello in quella maestosità di capolavoro che dalla superstrada lascia sempre meravigliati.
