Dear Davewprowse, The gatehouse is exactly as pictured, please see the reviews that are on the accommodation website to quantify this. The towels were checked after you had left and there were two bath sheets, two bath towels and two hand towels - all of which were clean and unused. The "wood burner" is not a real fire, it is an electric fire and we have never advertised a wood burning stove or real fire at all. The sofa and beds contain memory foam and there are spare blankets in the bottom of the wardrobe if you need them. Most of our guests like that there is a microwave so that they can have an instant meal if they wish. The receptionist acted upon information that you gave, that there were no toilet roll or towels, that she took to be true and we believe that she said she would talk to her line manager on Monday with respect to a refund. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the TV, it works perfectly and there are a set of instructions on the shelf should you be unsure. We would reiterate that if you look at any other reviews on our accommodation site, they will differ greatly from this. We are so sorry that you weren't happy, we would love to have a real fire in the gatehouse but for health and safety reasons we can't. If we did we would be singing it from the rooftops.

We are sorry you’ve put this on TripAdvisor. Your party arrived 40 minutes early and didn’t notify anyone. You then split up and half of you went into the café which does only have one member of staff on at that time in the morning because we are very quiet, particularly in the winter months, in these difficult times, we really can’t afford to have a member of staff on just in case, a little forewarning with enabled us to get someone to help you. The tour guide arrived before 11 to meet and greet you. She even went up to the café to ask some of your party to come down before she started the tour. So all were aware that the tour was about to start. The heating for the main rooms was not operating properly. However, were you were eating you had two air source heat pumps blowing down warm heat and you had a great hall fire lit, which is 6 foot wide and 3 foot deep. It also has a fan that allows the warmth to go into the room. Both producing good heat in a 700-year-old room. You did complain via email asking for money back but then you said the meal was delicious all of it, but the plates were lukewarm. No mention of anything being cold. We hope this clarifies matters for you. And wish you well

You’re time of arrival was stated by the yourselves as 11 am . You arrived 45 minutes early, unannounced. Had we known we would’ve had more staff to look after you it’s just not financially viable if we don’t know. The guide came up to Cafe to invite you down to start the tour with herself… the decision was yours to join it or not. No food was returned and on the day the comments regarding the food were all that it was excellent and delicious. And the place were warm as you have confirmed in an email. You had to air source, heat pumps. And a huge log fire in the room. And you did order, sticky toffee with ice cream. You ate everything with very positive comments. I hope this answers your comments.
