This is one of the best travel experiences I’ve had. The team are 100% professional in every way, and very kind…catering to all personalities and experience levels, and keeping everyone very safe.
It’s a magical experience to carve tracks down a glacier, in the shadow of Aoraki.

Our group of 7, made up of 2 families had a totally amazing experience doing this yesterday. Being able to ski on a glacier in front of the majestic Mt Cook as well as learn and experience all the wonder of a live glacier was something we will all remember. The team at Alpine Guides were really accommodating of our group and plans despite our relatively last minute contact and booking. The guides were knowledgeable and we felt very safe with them. The lunch was delicious. A totally magic day.

Wow, this was one of the best experiences ever. The glacier and surrounding mountains are just stunning, and being there making fresh tracks in the snow was a magical experience. We were incredibly lucky to have a beautiful still sunny day. I was a tad nervous about whether my ski skills were up to it, but I didn’t need to worry - the skiing was easy and the pace of the day was relaxed. Our guide Woody was calm, friendly and interesting throughout. Good lunch in a stunning location, they even catered for my gluten free needs well. Highlights were the ice cave, skiing through the chasm and the 3 scenic helicopter flights. If you’re uncertain about whether it’s worth the cost I would say “Do It ! “

We had an excellent experience. Being in the glacier was wonderful for the views and the ski down was dreamy (I've never enjoyed snow like it) Very helpful guide, team at the base set us up well, and the heli flight was exhilarating!
The yearn to return is already strong ! World class experience in our own backyard.

Just wow....if you want the full alpine experience..breathtaking scenery, pristine snow, cool interesting ice features...combined with some fun skiing in fabulous powder.....I really doubt you could do better. My day was more than awesome. It was like I'd learnt ski-touring and ice climbing to get to the most fantastic environment....only without having to learn those things and get exhausted getting there.
Backed up by a superbly professional outfit who communicate really well and take safety seriously in a way that leaves you feeling really well supported (while, of course, still making it fun). They couldn't have been more helpful - if you have logistical questions just call them and ask.

Fabulous experience, great team guiding and organising. Stunning scenery we were all buzzing afterwards. Very special to do it with the kids. Definitely recommend this.

Amazing trip thanks. Great guide, great gear, great day. Our guide (George) was full of very good tips and info on the surrounding peaks and ice forms.

We had the most amazing day from start to finish skiing the Tasman Glacier. The guides were brilliant and made our day very special. A very highlight and wow day. Thank you Tai and Dave.

We had a spectacular day Skiing the Tasman Glacier with Alpine Guides on Aug 12th 2020 - The Walker Group ;-) . All 10 of us were blown away by the scale of the place. Our guide Lewis was great, very knowledgable about the mountains and the glacier. The weather could not have been better either. Didn't expect first tracks in very nice powder particularly on the 2nd run. Everyone should add this to their bucket list. You do not have to be an expert to ski this, intermediate skiers will handle it easily.

Total highlight of our school holidays! We are feeling truly grateful to have experienced such a fantastic trip skiing on the Tasman Glacier. A combo of amazing weather, fabulous friends w 3 families in total, fresh snow & top guides made this an amazing day. The helicopter ride is amazing in itself, however the long ski runs and location is breathtaking. Being up there to visit our precious glaciers of Aotearoa was like visiting our great ancestors and we felt very fortunate and privileged, I highly recommend this trip with your friends & family. Thank you to the terrific guides Anna, Tai, Dave & Lewis for giving us an experience of a lifetime.

Would this be suitable for snowboarders? Or would there be too much flat terrain? Failing that, split-boards?

First, apologies for the very late reply. We didn't get an alert about your message. You can definitely go snowboardng and splitboarding under your own steam on the glacier, but not on a guided Ski The Tasman day. We’ve been running Ski The Tasman since the early 1970s. Experience tells us that the Tasman is best suited to skiers. The glacier is long and rolling, NZ’s longest green run. We often have to traverse and sidestep through the icefalls and in “Canyonlands”. The lower end of the runs are gently angled, so boarders can have trouble getting up any momentum at all.

Hi Leah - intermediate. You need to be able to tackle 'blue' runs at a ski area - at least be able to make a strong wedge turn. We take a relaxed pace, so there's no rush. The natural snow conditions are a challenge for some, but 'fat' skis (which we rent) can make a huge difference.
