I recently went scuba diving with Temple Adventures in Pondicherry, and my experience was a mix of both pleasant and horrifying moments. While their office and overall setup were professional, there were significant issues during the dive.
I had expected a larger training pool, but there was nothing to complain about during the training. I quickly got comfortable with the equipment and breathing underwater, completing my pool training without a hitch. By the end, I was sitting comfortably at the bottom of the pool, fully in control of my breathing and mind.
The problems began when we reached the dive site. I was fully geared up by the team and seated on the edge of the boat, but then, without any warning, I was flipped unexpectedly into the sea. Due to this lack of communication, I was not prepared. To my horror, when I hit the water, the assisting diver was nowhere near me. It seems there was a communication gap within the team. As a non-swimmer, I panicked, struggled to stay afloat, and even lost a fin in the chaos. In my panic, I also injured my legs by hitting the boat.
When the assisting diver finally got hold of me, I couldn’t understand why he was more interested in keeping me underwater while I was gasping for air. Despite repeatedly telling him that I needed to surface and catch my breath, he seemed more focused on completing the dive than on calming me down. In my panicked state, breathing through the mouthpiece was insufficient, which should have been a basic consideration for the dive team.
Having traveled approximately 5,000 kilometers for this experience, I was extremely disappointed. What should have been an exciting adventure turned into a terrifying ordeal. While I’m deeply disappointed in how this was handled, I also take personal responsibility for not being able to control my panic or calm down quickly, as my mind had stopped working. Even those middle-finger-sized bananas served as snacks on the boat couldn’t calm me down.

This has got to be the best scuba school in the country. I did by Open water, advanced and nitrox specialisation front this school.
The level of care, safety measures and the curriculum is unparalleled. We did both freshwater and ocean dives.
The team, especially Shaveer is very knowledgeable and has explained nitty gritties of diving.
On a side note: they helped me propose to my wife underwater. Thats one memory for life..! :)

I’d like to begin by saying that I had an amazing time diving with the folks at Temple Adventures!
I had planned to do my Open Water and Advanced Open Water Diver course with Mr Shaveer Patel in October 2023. We had a few conversations over call and decided to do it my December. Though it was a long wait, I’m glad to say that it was definitely worth it. Shaveer was very patient throughout the training period, ensuring we were comfortable each step of the way. He was ready to answer any questions and made sure we enjoyed what we were learning. I’m very grateful for that.
Overall, the folks at Temple Adventures were warm and welcoming making my first solo trip to Pondicherry memorable :)

I planned this dive very late, when I was already on my way to Pondi. However, temple adventure ensured I had everything to go for dive once I reached there. I was lucky to do the dive under the guidance of our leader Mr Shaveer Patel, who ensured that we learn everything the right way. His sharp observations under the water was great. His debrief sessions were very insightful. I will now plan go for regular dives now and explore more.

I signed up for a PADI MSDT Programme with Temple Adventures and got the opportunity to train under Mr. Shaveer Patel who is an experienced course director.
The knowledge he brings to the class regarding diving and dive business is special. If you're training under Shaveer sir ... Please ask questions! He is a role model for many divers like us and his guidance is backed by years of experience which I feel is priceless. You won't get that in any textbook or video.
Thank you Shaveer Sir and Temple Adventures for making it worthwhile.
Special shoutout to my friend Santosh who organized the entire course & my dive equipment making the experience feel effortless, with a smile. Three cheers! Yeh dil maange more... Will be back

We completed our open water and advanced open water diver course.
It's was thrilling experience, we enjoyed the whole journey from being newbie to now completely confident divers.
Shaveer guided us and carried out our course in smooth and fun way. He pays attention to every details during the course and thrive towards excellence.
Every session and dive was different experience with a lot of learnings.
They are best in their domain taking safety and best practices while diving.
Thank you Shaveer and temple adventures for such a nice experience and learning.

Temple Adventures is a very good surprise with how professional, organized and well trained their entire staff is when it comes to diving in India. From booking to diving and everything in between I felt like I was in good hands that knew exactly what they were doing.
I did my Drift Diver and Nitrox speciality courses with them and will look forward to going again for further specialities.

Here's my story: I wanted to do open water dive in Oct'22 but was really scared about it. So, I booked my course, went to Pondicherry and came back home w/o taking the course. Unexpectedly, Shavir from Temple Adventure called me and talked about 40 mins to tell me everything about how they train and their process and everything else about Scuba.
Thanks to Shavir and cut to Jan'23 - I did go Pondicherry and successfully completed my course. The best of diving with Temple is that they have a very detailed and elaborate process of training. On day-0, we were trained about the equipment (our instructor, Akhil) took about 1-2 hours to just explain every detail of the equipments. It was followed by confined pool training - which was another 3 hours exercise, wherein we practiced all the skills needed to dive.
Next day - we dived in lake, where we also had swimming and float test. Inside the lake, we demonstrated the skills we had learned on day 0. And, we did learn new skills as well (like navigation). We had 2 dives on day-1
Final day of training and certification - we dived in ocean and all the fear, doubts and everything else - they just fade away once you enter the water. We did two dives and the last one was a fun dive, wherein we just hovered around. I felt very relaxed and saw different fishes as well :-)
My friend and I are already planning advanced and deep course with Temple, but goes w/o saying that Temple is the best place to learn to dive and dive in India. End of the day, very thankful to Shavir, Akhil and Adit (intern at Temple who assisted us in dive).
Strongly recommending Temple adventures for everyone who wants to dive. And, even if you are not sure if diving is for you - call them, I am sure, they'll help you make the right decision.

This is one of the best experience and fulfilment of one of my main item in my bucket list. My Main Instructor Aishwarya along with Senior Instructor Rajat have been very good and helpful coach during the entire duration of my Open Water Diver course which I completed under the hawk's eye of Elite Divers Praveen & Nabeel on me.
Will visit again for Advance course & wish to do it with the above mentioned same Team of Fantastic Four.

did my instructor pgme from temple...learnt a lot .during those days...after 3 yrs ...completed my 2x Speciality and MSDT with Course Dir Shaveer (temple adventure) . What more i can say about Shaveer , a patient listener who had all my doubts cleared and made few complicated topics as simple as possible.
He is like a Bible on diving. Will meet u soon..for more courses ...
Again i am saying..IF YOU WANT TO MEET DIVING GODS ...GO TO TEMPLE AND HAVE AN ADVENTURE ...

How many days ahead did you make the reservation, Can it be done on the same day or a day before. How cold was the water to dive in winter

10 years is ideal
Formally speaking 8 years with no medical condition that prevents from taking a dive is basic prerequisite for PADI bubble maker.thats youngest program available.
Diving depth upto 6ft or 2mts shallow.its about experiencing diving for first time and you are breathing nitrox for first time.

The Temple Adventures we went to is a large PADI scuba centre. I don't think they do anything else but you would have to contact them directly.

I don’t know nothing about scuba diving,even I am basic level swimmer,Is there any rules for me -not to dive?

Hi, that's the beauty of scuba diving. To experience the first level you don't have to be a swimmer. All the basics are taught to you in an hour of theory class if you are doing the basic course and therefore when you go to the ocean you go all prepared.
The only thing to take care of is basic fitness. And you should not have high blood pressure.

Hi...First of all great choice to experience scuba.
There are different type of courses in scuba which will cost you differently. The range is from 6K to 32K depending on the course.
My suggestion is that you call temple adventures directly or visit their website for more details.
They are very responsive on email and phone both.
