Nothing, actually, and yet very impressive. That you can be relatively close when a ship is "smuggled" is already exciting and the size of the whole facility is impressive. If you are nearby, and technically interested, a short rest is certainly worthwhile.

In addition to the large-scale technology that protects the hinterland around the Eider River, it is the bird breeding colonies that keep bringing us back here. Seagulls and various terns breed here. Always keep your distance from the animals. Please, you are really close.

We were also here on our trip and were able to view the barrier, which was striking - it is really impressive to look at. The technology is also very impressive, although the observation tower cannot be visited for good reason, but that's not so bad, because what visitors see is enough to give them a certain idea.
The car park is free and there is a small snack bar with the option of sitting outside or buying small souvenirs, and there is also a public toilet.
We can only say that a visit is definitely recommended.

Das Eidersperrwerk wurde 1973 an der Stelle, wo die Eider in die Nordsee mündet, eingeweiht und dient dem Küstenschutz bzw. dem Schutz vor Sturmfluten.
Es gibt einen kostenlosen Parkplatz von dem aus man dann über eine Treppe nach oben gelangt und dann darüber laufen kann, um die Turbinen anzusehen.
Absolut sehenswert für jedermann!

Für technikinteressierte Personen absolut sehenswert. Ab April besteht die Möglichkeit, einen Schiffstörn ins Wattenmeer zu unternehmen. Ggfs. sieht man auch Seehunde.

Interessant für Jung und alt.
Man kann sich ansehen, wie die Schleuse funktioniert, was nicht nur Kindern zeigt, welche Kräfte die Flut haben kann.
Es gibt einen großen Parkplatz mit einem Imbiss und Sitzgelegenheiten.

Man kann in der Nähe oder auf dem Besucher Parkplatz parken, wo es auch eine kleine Imbissbude gibt. Die Technik ist beeindruckend und erst recht wie das auflaufende Wasser da rein rauscht. Da erlebt man mal anders wie viel Kraft Ebbe und Flut haben. Die Schleuse kann während einer Schifftour von Tönning oder vom Außenhafen am Sperrwerk befahren werden.
