Dear guest,
Greetings from the Habitat Penang Hill.
Thank you for taking the time to provide earnest feedback. We highly appreciate it!
Internet coverage has been quite a long standing issue we have been wrestling with but we are working on providing a permanent solution to it!
We humbly apologise that your interaction with our team was not desirable but we're glad that you enjoyed the guided tour. Our guides are highly passionate about nature.
We note your feedback on the lack of visibility of the guided tours. We will be revising this structure in September!
Once again, we thank you for your time and for visiting us at The Habitat!

You can take flight, train, bus, or car to Penang Island. I would suggest you check in to any hotel in Penang first, then, take any ground transportation to Penang Hill. There you can buy The Penang Hill Train (Penang Hill Funicular Railway) ticket to the top of Penang Hill. Habitat is at the top of hill.

Hi Fabiana,
Thank you for your question & We are happy to hear that you are planning a visit to Penang soon.
We recommend that you plan a trip of at least one week in order to truly experience all that Penang has to offer.
Days 1-3 can be spent exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, discovering our street art, experiencing our Melting Pot of cultures and, of course, sampling our unique and internationally renowned street / hawker food.
Suggested Things to Do in George Town include:-
a) Visiting The Blue Mansion (a.k.a. Cheong Fat Tze Mansion) and taking one of their 3 daily tours.
b) Having lunch at The Blue Mansion’s Indigo Restaurant and sampling their fusion cuisine.
c) Exploring “The Street of Harmony” (Jalan Kapitan Keling) on foot with a side trip to Little India along the way. Finish off at Armenian St and Canon Square where you will find many Clan Houses and temples including Khoo Kongsi Clan House. Don’t miss Kapitan Keling Mosque as well as St George’s Church, the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) Temple and the Indian temples all of which have contributed to this nickname for the street.
d) Visit China House, the longest Cafe in the world, for a good cup of coffee / tea and some scrumptious cakes and other dessert for tea.
e) Have dinner at Kebaya Restaurant at Seven Terraces Boutique Hotel on Stewart Lane and sample their selection of Nyonya / Peranakan Fusion food.
f) Drink the night away at one of our great cocktail bars including Mish Mash on Muntri St (Lebuh Muntri) and Golden Shower by Chin Chin on Bishop St.
g) Take a Guided Heritage Tour through George Town.
h) Sample the Street Food reputed to be the best in the world.
i) Visit The Top at Komtar to get a birds eye view of George Town from the Rainbow Bridge, a glass bridge on top of the 68-storey building.
j) Visit Peranakan Mansion on China St.
k) Try the Nyonya Food at either Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery on Bishop St or Perut Rumah in Nagore Square.
Days 4-6 - Take a break from George Town and explore other parts of Penang Island.
Suggested Things to Do outside George Town include:-
a) Visit Penang Hill and come to The Habitat to learn about and experience our 130-million year old rainforest at the heart of Penang Island. After your visit, have lunch on the Hill at David Brown Tea Terraces at Strawberry Hill. Come to The Habitat in the morning so that you can spend the second half of the day at Kek Lok Si Temple which is near the Penang Hill Railway Bottom Station in Air Itam. There, you will see one of the world’s tallest Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) statues.
b) Visit Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang for a day at the northwest end of the island. Start your day with a visit to the Tropical Spice Garden and better still, sign up for their cooking class which is a great experience. Afterwards, make your way to Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm nearby to visit a wonderland of entomology. End your day at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Beach Resort for sundowners followed by dinner at their fantastic Spice Market Coffee House which has a buffet spread to die for. Or, alternatively, head to Feringghi Garden for dinner surrounded by beautiful orchids, ferns and other exotic plant life.
c) Spend half a day exploring the smallest National Park in Malaysia in Teluk Bahang or explore more or Teluk Bahang. Attractions in this part of the island include the Tropical Fruit Farm as well as Art & Garden by Fuan Wong which is an experience not to be missed. If you have time, be sure to check out Escape Adventure Zone also in Teluk Bahang which has something for the entire family from Zip Lines to Malaysia’s largest water theme park.
d) Spend a day in Balik Pulau with Matahari Cycling Tours and experience a unique side of Penang you would not otherwise see. Or visit an organic fruit farm, Green Acres, to learn about how they have gone 100% pesticide free with their farming practices. Explore their orchards and veggie patches and eat and sample produce right off the branch.
For accommodation. Consider spending half your time during the week in one of the many terrific boutique hotels in George Town and the other half at one of our lovely beachside resorts in Batu Feringghi.
Boutique Hotels in George Town include:-
1. The Blue Mansion (Cheong Fat Tze Mansion).
2. The Edison.
3. Muntri Mews.
4. Muntri Grove.
5. Seven Terraces.
6. Jawi Peranakan Mansion.
Beachside Resorts in Batu Feringghi include:-
1. Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort.
2. Shangri-La’s Golden Sands Resort.
3. Lone Pine Hotel.
4. Holiday Inn Penang.
5. The Parkroyal.
6. The Hard Rock Hotel Penang.
We hope this helps and we look forward to welcoming you to Penang and to Penang Hill soon!
Kind regards,
The Habitat Team
