A sacred monument at the place where Vishwa Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar embraced Buddhism with thousands of followers at Nagpur in the year 1956. The word Deeksh bhoomi means a place of spiritual awakening. The stupa is the largest amongst all Buddhist stupa in India. It's height is 22 meters and diameter 36 meters. One of the most visited religious place for the Buddhists world over. It has received a status of A class pilgrimage site. A must visit sacred monument of Buddhism in Nagpur.

Pride Of Nagpur . An Iconic Stupa

Deeksha Bhoomi is a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site located in Nagpur, a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is an important place for followers of Buddhism and a place of historical importance for Indian society. Deeksha Bhoomi is also known as the place where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, converted to Buddhism along with thousands of his followers in 1956.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a prominent social reformer and leader of the Dalit community in India. He dedicated his life to the betterment of Dalits and other marginalized sections of society. Ambedkar's conversion to Buddhism was seen as a rejection of the caste system in Hinduism, which had oppressed Dalits for centuries.

Deeksha Bhoomi is the site where Ambedkar and his followers embraced Buddhism on October 14, 1956. The monument at Deeksha Bhoomi is a stupa, The geographical land spreads over 22 acres, covered with lush green beautification. The central part is dedicated for the giant stupa. which is a dome-shaped structure that represents the Buddhist concept of enlightenment.

Today, Deeksha Bhoomi is a popular tourist attraction and a pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world. The site is also a symbol of social equality and the struggle for the rights of marginalized communities in India. Every year in October, thousands of people gather at Deeksha Bhoomi to pay homage to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and to celebrate his conversion to Buddhism.

It was wonderful experience but volunteers over there with white clothes were very rude. Instead of telling people what not to do they were shouting inside. We travel to far to experience beautiful things but people like those they spoil the whole trip.

Very peaceful

One of the beautiful stupa's in Nagpur. Famous because this is where Dr. B .R Ambedkar embraced Buddhism. When we went, there were preparations going on for the annual Dhaam Chakra Pravatan Din and so couldnt stay for along but whatever time we were there was very peaceful

A nice monument to visit while in Nagpur. A deep sense of patriotism you feel when you stand in this iconic Monument, the display of photograph's of Dr. BR Ambedkar takes you back to the ages of struggle of India and helps you understand the extent this Great soul has contributed to India. If your heart feels for India, dont miss this.

Express hatred towards Hinduism

Nice place, but Ambedkar has created hatred towards Hinduism. After completing the visit inside stup, read the oath taken by and given to masses created negativity . Really disappointing to visit the place.

Peace with the Buddha

Loved this place. Free entrance. A must see attraction. Parking on premises at a cost of Rs20. Clean, tidy, very peaceful. No photography inside.

Peaceful and serene atmoshphere

Deeksha Bhoomi is near to Ajni railway station (around 3.5 km). The largest dome-shaped stupa in Asia can be seen from outside the boundary wall of this area. The facilities inside the premises include paid luggage room, slippers/shoe rack, drinking water, book store, free toilets, and Buddha Vihara. The architecture of stupa is worth watching. The inside ground hall has a replica of this stupa, along with statues of Buddha, and a large meditation hall. In one corner, there is display of picture gallery related to Babasaheb conversion to Buddhism.
