The 'Sentiero dei Forti' (path of the forts) is a round walk out of Colico in a northerly direction. The distance is 9km and there are not much differences in altitude, just about 80m, when one goes over the Montecchio hills. It is mostly on small, unpaved roads, with almost no traffic. The best part is in the middle, on a lovely footpath through forests, over meadows and through a traditional hamlet. A bit boring is the long straight stretch by the river Adda.
On the way one has the opportunity two visit two forts. The Forte Montecchio Norte from WWI comes first, just a 5 minutes branch off from the 'Sentiero'. It can only be visited on guided tours at certain hours. Easier is a visit of the early 17th century 'Forte di Fuentes', built at a time, when Milan belonged to Spain. From here one goes down to the river Adda, branching off to the left before the river reaches Lake Como. Past the 'Spiaggia Selvaggia', the wild beach, one finally arrives back at Colico by the Spiaggia Ontano.

Una passeggiata di un’oretta, adatta anche alle famiglie , poco impegnativa ma sicuramente rilassante e con un panorama che rilassa. Noi abbiam avuto la fortuna di non incontrare nessuno dal forte di Montecchio sino a quello di Fuentes , bellissimo

Sentiero nella natura che collega i vari forti che caratterizzano il territorio di Colico. Ideale per una passeggiata domenicale.

Сентьеро дей форти (путь сильных, путь крепостей, путь фортов) - это маршрут, идя по которому можно посетить две крепости Колико: Форте Монтеккьо Норд и Форте ди Фуэнтас. Путь совсем не сложный, но нужна удобная обувь.

Itinerario iteressante e ben segnalato che consente di visitare sia il Forte Montecchio, che risale alla prima guerra mondiale, sia il Forte di Fuentes, che dà il nome a tutta la zona circostante, importante testimoninaza dell'antico confine fra il Ducato di Milano e la Valtellina, allora sotto dominio grigione.
I lavori di ristrutturazione di quest'ultimo forte, completati da pochi anni, permettono una rivisitazione suggestiva degli ultimi anni di dominazione spagnola di Milano.
La zona agricola fra i due forti offre scorci inconsueti sull'alto Lario, che meritano la passeggiata, ossibile in ogni stagione.
Un piccolo appunto riguarda la segnalazione del sentiero in direzione opposta, per chi volesse percorrerlo in direzione di Colico.
I lavori di ristrutturazione di quest'ultimo forte, completati da pochi anni, permettono una rivisitazione suggestiva degli ultimi anni di dominazione spagnola di Milano.

Camminata tranquilla che ti permette di ammirare le bellezze naturalistiche del comune di Colico e di raggiungere passeggiando i due forti presenti quello di Montecchio con i cannonieri della prima guerra mondiale e quello più antico di Fuentes. necessario un abbigliamento comodo e consono.

The Sentiero dei Forti is a relatively short signed walk around Colico, nine kilometres in length it is predominately flat and takes in the two old military forte of the region, Forte Montecchio and Forte Fuentes.
From Colico train station turn left and head up Via Nazionale by foot for about ten minutes till you reach Via Alle Torri, this is the way also to Forte Montecchio Nord, follow the signs. The Sentiero dei Forti passes by Forte Montecchio-Lusardi, Monteggio, Erbaiola and returns along Pian de Colico back to the starting point of the train station. The walk is a very enjoyable one, it is possible to deviate and pick up another trail near the ranch on Via Erbiola and head back into Colico along the pedestrian/cycle track by the River Adda.
