Tutto davanti a mia figlia.

I have done horse riding in the Ardèche and Barcelona and That was exciting and fun. This was boring and way to expensive for what you get. It’s just a simple walk to the lake and back… That’s it. Really not worth Your money.

Bellissima esperienza in sella al cavallo! Personale gentilissimo e molto disponibile.

Grazie

It’s my 14 years old daughter who always want to ride the horse while we travel. She’s been taking lessons since 9 years old, so she can handle horses even if the horse is a bit under trained.
I read all the reviews here first, including bad reviews, but those bad experiences are just very common, in my opinion, in Europe.
For example, before she took horseback lessons at age of 9, we went to this horseback riding school in Pyrenees which was promoted by tourist information. But teacher declined her because she couldn’t speak French. Another French ranch, first day they didn’t like to accept without appointment, but next day we drove 180km to come back so we were late for 5min, and were told they left already (but after 20min storm came and they couldn’t continue anyway, but still had to pay). Just last week in Doromite, horseback tourist information promoting also declined my daughter because first she said rider has to be advance rider, and when I said she is in advance, but she’s 14 years old, she said rider has to be more than 15 years old, and yet she said she can only let people take lessons inside arena, but in tourist information website it says there’s trail riding. In other places where you can just rent horses or donkeys to climb certain mountain, those mountain horses mostly are not trained, so whatever my daughter did, the horse didn’t move, except when she turned the horse toward stable to head home, it trotted happily.
We are tourists, and horses are not machines. Many stables are not welcoming tourists even tourists information is promoting it.
So when I contacted Rossana by Whatsapp (I used google translate so we can communicate in Italian, but there is another number you can use to communicate in English, at their website ‘contact’ place, you can find all the numbers ), I was very happy that she accommodated my daughter.
In fact, I contacted only on that day, before lunch, yet she allowed my daughter to ride that afternoon 17:00.
I made sure we weren’t late, because it’s better we wait than my daughter miss the departure if it’s a group ride. Sometimes in France, I noticed they leave 10-15 min early. I think there are many factors to consider like weather, conditions of horses, number of riders, etc.
Direction to the ranch also was clearly given in Italian which I translated beforehand in google. And I used the google map to direct us which was correct.
We arrived only 15 min early, and pretty soon the first group came back. The photo with many riders is that first group. I think it was already fully booked for that group so that in order for Rossana to accept my daughter, she had to have another trail ride for that day. And because my daughter was the only one, someone from ranch rode trail riding just for her. I was really so touched and felt so thankful to her. That’s a rare thing to happen.
Normally there’s no second group specially if it’s a trail ride. In fact, I was even thinking, since I contacted too late, within that day, it’s okay if she’s allowed to ride within their arena. My daughter also knew that she may not go on trail ride.
So she was so happy when she found out she can go on trail ride!
There was this young lady who could speak good English who helped my daughter to get ready, with saddle and helmet. But some Italian riders who go there regularly could also speak English, so we were happy talking about horseback riding experiences.
In Colico, around the ranch stretches walking trails which allow bicycles, too. I met many locals who use those trails to walk, cycle, or run. But along or near by the path, there are separate path for horses.
I also saw small children who look like 5 or 6 years old going through trail path, pulled by ranch staff, and they looked so happy riding. It is rare to find a ranch that accept those small children. It is not easy to make the children ride safely when it comes to horseback riding. It looks easy and safe, but one needs special training and control over the horse. I know this because just last month, I rode a horse for the first time in Turkey and fell. Even someone was pulling my horse, I couldn’t sit stable because horse was pulling and kicking.
I highly recommend this ranch. But it is really better to make appointment earlier. Be sure to go earlier, too. Use google translate to communicate if you can’t speak Italian.
All of them were really so nice. I wish I could speak Italian just to get to know them.
I’m Japanese, so I know how hard for locals to meet tourists. And it’s ironical that more they can only speak their language, nicer people they are.

Inutile descrivere i paesaggi, incantevoli!

Ripeterei l’esperienza molto volentieri.
