There is something for everyone here. Good walking, for a few hours, nice views and benches to watch the world go by, ducks to feed, cafe , very dog friendly.

lovely walks, great for picnics, outdoor pursuits, school ,nursery trips, café/toilets available. children will love feeding the ducks and swans

Gentle, flat walk alongside the water, the path is generally good with some issues when there's bad weather - some washed up wood and grass when we walked there on 1st January, which might have been a bit of an issue for wheelchair users and others. Otherwise a really nice walk, get to the half-way point to enjoy the carvings and benches, good for the kids. Then either turn back and go the way you came, or go up onto the cycle path - also nice with great views, but keep in mind there are obviously cyclists using it and they are often ringing bells to tell you to stay on one side. Usually easy to get a space in the carpark, otherwise local bus or train links nearby. Lovely place for a walk, lots of dog walkers and friendly folk.

What a fantastic day we had at Castle Semple Country Park. We thought our day would be ruined as one of our bikes had a puncture and the cycle shop was temporarily closed. However John, one of the on-site team, went out of his way to help us and once fixed we enjoyed a fabulous day of cycling. Everywhere was immaculately clean and everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely area of Scotland with plenty free parking available. There are pleasant walks around the area and the loch is great for water sports and cycling. An onsite shop provides coffees/ice-cream and snacks and is Covid safe for customers.

Had a lovely walk following the trails at Castle Semple. Very quite due to weather. Would recommend a visit.

This is one of my favourite places to visit. The trail around the Loch itself is gorgeous. There is a fantastic cycle path that is great for running also with the even surface. The woodland area is fantastic for exploring, with lots of different paths to go higher up into the moors, to visit the old church and even have fun getting lost!
The car park is quite small for the site, so I would say to park a bit further out in the village to avoid getting stuck in the car park. Haven’t yet tried out the water sports due to the weather or the shop because of Covid. But I’m sure I will in the upcoming months.
Everyone is extremely friendly and it’s always a great day.

We went with the grandchildren and walked on the tarmac cycle path and part of the Loch. Quite pleasant on the edges of the Loch and the wind created small waves on the shore which seemed like one was by the seaside.

Fantastic route to Castle Semple via the cycle path. Cycle path and surrounding areas are well maintained and offer lovely views!

Love here and come often with family and the dogs the dogs love it there’s plenty of forest and paths to explore and see as well as swans and ducks who come VERY close .... my dogs weren’t impressed by that. There’s also watersports to try if you can brave the cold Scottish water!

Trying watersports needs to be booked in advance - course dates are listed on the whats on page of our website or one can contact the outdoor activities team to organise a group outdoor activity session.

Is the loch suitable for swimming ? Or is it too busy ? I am looking for somewhere where we can swim 1500-1800m (it can be zig zag back and forth)

The loch is generally busy with rescue craft, sailing, kayaking and canoeing activities. The rowing club also train on the loch. Hence we would not recommend it even though it is used by swimmers.
