Already at the entrance next to where there were a few blue bullets someone pulled up (probably co-owner, as he parked there more often- Viennese license plate and BMW) and swore at small children + parents, what they allow themselves that the children played here with the bullets, they are only there to see if they have no intelligence and further swearing, ricjig shameful!!!
The Villa expensive and apart from lots of antlers and some culture.
Not really recommended!

The Imperial Villa seems to have come of age. It crumbles and crumbles in several places. This - still? - does little harm to the time-honoured character of the building and its historical significance. The Kaiserpark is still worth hiking, but some trails should be better signposted. In the year of the European Capital of Culture 2024, a very interesting, excellently designed Aiweiwei exhibition took place at various locations belonging to the grounds of the Imperial Villa.

The visit to Kaiservilla was very upsetting for me. We were guided around the house by an opinionated Kaiservilla man who thought he was very funny.
He appeared to glorify the wholesale slaughter of 54,000 defenceless wild animals for sport by the Emperor Franz Joseph.
Many of these animals would have died a slow and painful death as it is doubtful that they were killed instantly from being shot.
After being shot these animals had their antlers sliced off and hundreds of them are displayed in the somewhat ghoulish Kaiservilla.

A horrible experience, it’s a place where just german speaking tourists will have a guided tour Made for them, for foreigners you pay a 23 euro ticket that obliges you to follow a german speaking guide that doesn’t translate in English even though she speaks fluently English.
Other than that you are not allowed to do the visit with your own time because you have to stay with the group and the guide you don’t understand.
They only give you a paper sheet with few information while the tour guide speaks a lot more , it’s Not the direct traslation.
Just do not go if you are a foreigner, it is not worth it and I don’t recommend it.
To finish off the people working there are not nice and they don’t understand english or complaints.
A really really really bad experience, wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy

The Villa is nice ok, but the guide was simply horrible. Few information (I can get more reason a 5 minutes book) and not any support for no German speaking tourists like us. The park is in poor conditions and not worthing a visit. Change your plan if you plan to visit it.

Our visit to the Imperial Villa in Bad Ischl in August 2024, in the middle of the high season and in the year of the Capital of Culture, was a bitter disappointment. With our culturally interested Greek friends, we wanted to explore this historical gem and introduce them to history and art treasures. Unfortunately, our enthusiasm was quickly dampened.
To our amazement, there were only guided tours in German on site, even in the broadest Salzkammergut dialect. For foreign visitors, only printed notes in different languages were available, but no audio guides or foreign-language tours. These printed documents were poorly structured and hardly helped to keep track of the exhibits or assign them correctly.
Our Greek friends, as well as other international guests from Hungary, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Lithuania, were visibly frustrated. They were fobbed off with insufficient translations and were on their own, unable to follow the German leadership.
It is absolutely incomprehensible that an Attraction of such importance and with such a rich historical background is so poorly prepared for international tourists. The lack of service and insufficient framework conditions made our visit a depressing experience.
As Austrian hosts we left the Imperial Villa ashamed and deeply disappointed. Such a place should be better equipped to provide adequate access to international visitors and to teach them the history of this important place. Unfortunately, the Imperial Villa in Bad Ischl did not succeed.

Well the romance makes this a wonderful getaway. The permanent summer residence of the imperial family full of personal items such as photos, clothes, hunting trophies ach it is nostalgia at its peak. But if you look beyond those somewhat pink glasses you see a Villa that is in urgent need of maintenance, the decline is going fast and if something is not done constructively in the short term then it will eventually become so dilapidated that there is not much more to visit. The tour is nice but the groups are very large which also makes it double every 15 minutes a tour starts in the summer so enough money comes in.... too bad it is not spent on protecting this historic place.

As avid lovers of history when touring Austria this villa was high on our list of prioities. As events in this villa were instrumental to unleashing the horrors of WW1 we expected something focused or acknowledging the momentus events here.
The whole focus appeared to be on Ai Weiwei and his art. Why oh why oh why oh why take a villa instrumental to one of the greatest tragedies in history and use it as a backdrop to the political statemengts of a Chinese dissident artist ? We plan a visit to Sarajevo in the future and if the Serbs are as flippant about their history there will be a giant orange log on the assasination point - a statement about Ai Wei Weis fight against a particularly nasty bout of constipation ? Will Red Square have a giant Ai Wei Wei green teardrop outside the Kremlin to tell the story of Ai Wei Weis lost dog ? No - because those sites will be treated as significant places in their own righ.... not a backdrop for conceptual imagery from somewhere else.
Expensive, very little if any information in English (In the villa or in the grounds - apart from the interpretation of Ai Wei Weis coal message - thanks - came to Austria for that).
All in all wish we hadn't bothered and would advise others not to bother either.

The Kaiservilla - the summer residence of Emperor Franz Josef and Empress Sissi - is worth a visit and the tour was detailed and good. It is a shame that the marble palace is not accessible and no information is available about it. The signage is poor and the address given on the website is also poorly described. Drivers should definitely enter Götzistrasse 1 in their sat nav, otherwise they will end up in the dead end on the mountain.

Yes there is, but each one gets a sheet in his/her language and you take as much time as you like. The spoken tour is only in German
