Firstly, you get a very friendly reception at the caddy master.. by ALL staff.
This is definitely a course you have to play several times to begin to have a feeling for it. Many holes are very difficult and a number of fairway VERY VERY unfair, losing balls even with a PERFECT shot because fairways are sloping so hard the ball MUST run off the course and hole 9 with two stupid trees in the middle of the fairway.. they need removing. There's also a par 3 where you often can't see the flag because it's 5 mtrs right behind large trees.. (see photo)
You'll never get bored playing here but take enough balls..
Super views everywhere.
Eventually after 6 days I amazed myself playing the first 9 in 39 strokes (handicap 10) .. and then caught up to a SLOW Swedish 4 ball who didn't let us through .. shame. 1st 9 95 mins, 2nd 9 150 minutes. Killed a great round.
We're definitely going make Alhaurin our 'home' course when we're on vacation.
Just one real minus, many buggies are in a very poor state. One we had was DANGEROUS with tyres so bad we almost went into a ravine twice because they just slipped instead of braking.
I would suggest there's a better menu in the clubhouse.

We visited at the beginning of March and the welcome was ok and the weather was great. I would say that this course is far too difficult for anyone 15 or over handicap. We had a mix of handicaps from 3 to 25 and I would say there was not much enjoyment for the higher handicapers and a lot of frustration with the lower handicapers. There are far to many blind tee shots with slopes going left or right. I think you would have to play this course a good amount of times to really find any enjoyment. The greens were not great in comparison to the other courses we played - We won't be back in a rush as there are so many others we have to tick off first!

The course has amazing views and a very laid back atmosphere.
The service is great and it one of the few golf courses on the Costa del Sol that are not overpriced.
The layout is enjoyable with both long and short holes, some of the demanding.
The only negative thing about the course are the bunkers. There was too little sand and they were way to hard so it was impossible to control the shots out of them.
Despite this, Alhaurin is a course I would highly recommend.

Susan in the Pro Shop was super friendly helpful and professional. The golf course is situated in the mountains between Mijas and Coín. The 18 holes offer some of the most challenging golf I have found anywhere on the Costa del Sol. This Seve Ballesteros-designed course is laid out so it tests the ability of any golfer.
Many fairways climbing up, plunging down and hanging onto the side of the mountains. You have to know how to play the four different lies. Many blind holes.
I loved it. Now that I know the course, I want to return for the wonderful mountain views and the challenge.

We played here as a group of 16 a fantastic course a totally different front 9 compared to back 9 very tricky course but great fun in lovely condition greens super fast and good fairways good service all round by friendly staff nothing not to like about playing here if you want a challenge bring a few extra golf balls enjoy your game

We are not golfers but have eaten here many times and have walked here for drinks every visit in 6 years. We have never had a bad meal and the service is always excellent. Warning. Very large spirit measures.

Il mérite sa réputation de parcours difficile mais quel beau parcours, un environnement somptueux, peu urbanisé, des greens très pentus, des trous très variés, seuls les départs pourraient être plus beaux mais nous sommes en hiver. Allez-y en sachant que vous perdrez quelques balles, normal lorsque l'on ne connait pas un parcours avec des trous aveugles et de nombreux fairway en devers sans compter les trois puts. Un beau défi pour les meilleurs et que du plaisir pour tous.

A friend advised us to play this course and wow I was not disappointed, one of the most varied interesting courses I have ever played. Can’t wait to return when the weather is a little kinder it was very windy the day we played.

Good value but in need of some attention. Tees, fairways and greens need some work on them. It’s a very difficult course especially if you have never played it before, take plenty of golf balls. My personal views is that it’s a good challenge for the better golfer, no so enjoyable for the high handicapper.

Played the course 1st October, first time back for 6 years, course was stunning, forget what people say about losing balls, if you can play golf it's a beaut of a course
