Absolutely outstanding! Had an amazing tour. Saw frogs, insects, plants monkeys and sloths. Our guide was quite personable and gave us some great education on what we were seeing as well as good info about the surrounding area. In a scale of 10, I’m giving it an 11!!!

We had a fantastic tilapia lunch here in their quaint, outdoor restaurant surrounded by nature! We then toured the rainforest garden for about an hour or so. We got to see sloths up close and personal! The garden area was just beautiful and our guide, Gabriel, did a great job of giving us pertinent information about the plants, wildlife and biodiversity within the rainforest.

We had a marvelous tour with Gabriel as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the animals we saw and took amazing video and photos through the sighting scope. We learned a lot not only about the animals we saw but also about the plants. He was enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed sharing his knowledge with us. We highly recommend this tour and enjoying lunch or dinner after.

Our tour company #CostaRicaWild&Fun we booked through brought us to Finca Verde Lodge Tours where Francisco took us on a walkabout looking for sloths and other creatures. Even our teenage boys enjoyed themselves learning fascinating facts and seeing the wildlife in person. At the end of our adventure we enjoyed a traditional Costa Rican meal at the Hummingbird Cafe located on the premise.

Wonderful tour guided by Manfred! We saw Sloths, a Morpho butterfly, poison dart frog and more! Food at restaurant was great.

We did a trail tour with Jorge and I am so glad we did. If this is not on your list currently, then it should be! Jorge was an excellent guide and spent so much time showing us the different animals and plants and explaining this "secondary" Rainforest, it is such an interesting trail. It's quite a short trail but we spent 2 hours with Jorge learning lots. He took so many pictures of and for us and had an excellent sense of humour. We saw four sloths on the tour (two partners and a mum and baby sloth), a sleeping camouflaged tree frog, toucans, a glimpse of a poison dart frog and many of the fascinating flora along the way. The best $15 I have ever spent.

The tour is in the grounds of the Finca Verde Lodge (Hotel). We were recommended to do this tour by our wonderful guide from the Tapir Reserve as a great place to see wildlife, in a quiet location that is eco friendly and not touristy! He was right. We had a private tour of grounds, the amazing plants, animals, birds, reptiles, butterflies …. It seems to run every two hours 10am, 12pm and 2pm but if not busy they seem flexible and took us on a tour upon arrival. We just turned up. Parking is available outside restaurant.
You can go on the short tour or long tour option - we chose the long tour and it was great. Saw so many animals and loads of birds (both types of toucans, woodpeckers, motmots) and several frogs (including the red eye tree frogs and the poisonous blue jean frog), as well as bats and many butterflies. Saw more sloths in one area than we’d seen all the way round Costa Rica. The monkeys were everywhere. A great guide (Gabriel) took us round. $15 a person cash. Great value for money with a knowledgeable guide and a keen interest in bird sounds. I can’t remember the name of the bird that made the clicking sound, but he made the call and the bird answered him back.
It has a restaurant that was open, so available on finishing the tour for coffee, lunch etc. There were toilets near the main restaurant. Wear bug spray and closed toed shoes for the forest walk. We also wore long trousers. It was quite humid (Nov 2023). Highly recommend it. Totally untouristy!

The tour we took was called Finca Verde tour & Llanos De Cortez. We went with Jesus. He is a first class tour guide. The royal treatment all the way. He is also extremely knowledgeable about Costa Rica, their animals and the plants. If he couldn’t answer a question for us he looked it up. You do not have to book private tour to request him though you can if you want.
This tour was SPECTACULAR. We went to the rainforest with lunch. We walked through the rainforest while it rained which was great. We saw sloths, tree frogs monkeys, toucans and a lot of gorgeous plant life. Jesus and his partner knew a TON about all of the above. The ton is easy walking.
Lunch was great! It was at The Hummingbird Cafe. It was tailored to us as we were asked for a meat choice. It was authentic Costa Rica meal with iced tea. The cafe is surrounded by the forest so we watched the toucans fly around while eating.

Our Finca Verde farm tour was amazing! Luis was an amazing guide and took the time to explain so many details to us as we walked around the property. We saw several sloths, poison dart frogs, several species of toucans, and could also hear the howler monkeys in the trees around us. It was so much fun to learn about the farm including the animals, the trees, and the plants! We had seen many billboards advertising tours to see sloths, frogs, etc., but we had heard about Finca Verde from a few other travelers and this is just what we were looking for. Amazing value for money. We also had lunch at the restaurant on site after our tour and the food was delicious! 100% recommend a visit to Finca Verde!

Does Finca Verde offer reservations/tours with guide for guests arriving by self-drive vs a tour company, or are there companies local to Finca Verde that provide guided tours? Our group of 4 will be in the Tenorio area briefly and are most interested in seeing Finca Verde. Thank you.

We are in Costa Rica now and we have hired a car especially to go to Finca Verde but I can’t find a way to book.
We will leave El Hobo at around 08.00 and it takes around 2.5 hours to get there. Do I need to book?
