MADHAV NATIONAL PARK, SHIVPURI, Madhya Pradesh
The National Parks in Madhya Pradesh is famous for Wildlife Tourism and are known for their rich biodiversity and Tourism destinations in India.
Today we are at Madhav National Park, Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. It is a combination of Dry Thorn Forests and dry deciduous. It was originally the shooting reserve of the Maharaja who belonged to Gwalior. Though this Park is at Madhya Pradesh, there is No Tiger in this Park, still worth to see it if you are Wildlife wanderer. We did Morning Safari @ 6:30 AM. Our Sightings were Jackles, Chinkara, N numbers of Barsingha, Neelgai Male-Females, Spotted Dears, Eagle, Junglefowl female, Grey Francolines, Golden Oriole, Yellow Wagtail, Indian Roller, Pied and White Breasted Kingfishers, Painted Spurfowl Open billed stork, 3 types, IBIS and rest wadder birds, Crocodiles, Monitor Lizard etc. Also there are one Sailing Club, Beautiful Castle, Machhan near Lake inside the forest.
There are no Safari Jeeps in the Park. But We can carry own vehicle with the park guide. Fees for Vehicle - ₹1500/- and Guide charges ₹350/-
Happy with the Guide and Forest obviously....

This is a good park and you can get guides at cheap rate. This place is little far from the city though

It is one of the most prominent wildlife sanctuaries of India.It is home of numerous wildlife species such as predators like leopards, panthers and hyenas. Besides these, there are a variety of other animals like sambar, nilgai, chital, sloth bear, dhole and crocodiles.It is a nice place to visit with children.

A good place, serene and calm. Worth visiting once. MP tourism needs to provide vehicles with guides to visit the interiors of the park.

The cost mentioned on the website and the slip will be 15rs for Indians but they'll add two more zeros to 15 and charge you 1500/- and tell you - prices has increased, website is not updated.
Then an old forest guard will accompany you in their Van and pretend that he knows the entire forest like the back of his hand. Truth is: he cant even see properly. The Van driver drives almost at 40-50kms/hr whereas the allowable speed is 20km/hr and hence he'll break so suddenly that the animals around get scared and scatter away. You wont even get a decent shot.
The guard charges are 360/- and the Van charges are 600 for 150mins but since he'll drive so fast, the entire jungle can be covered twice in that time. + he'll have the audacity to ask your written feedback at the end.
But the forest is beautiful, extremely beautiful. No tigers. I repeat, No Tigers. I spotted a Jackal, a spotted deer, hundred's of Blue Bull and some crocs.
They claim that the forest has stripped hyenas, Leopards and all.. well, you cant belive unless you see one.
Go on your own vehicle and maybe, pay the guard a bit more for him to actually show y'all around properly. There's some canteen inside which wasn't functional when I visited.

National park does not have lots of wildlife and is located on the outskirts of city. Can be visited if nothing else to be done.

not much wildlife to see here. but in a place like shivpuri its nyc to visit. chinkaras, dears, nilgai, crocodile, peacock, and some few birds .
you can take your own vehicle in. there is a small resto inside. he can cook you basic food. guest house are also available. VIP-1500, Normal- 1000 Inr.
