What can you say about these beautiful beaches that can define it as they deserve, without words. If the day is in low wind is a pool most of the beaches, a beauty that only being there one can manage to see this beach show.
This time you can walk almost the entire beach of the key tip to tip, I missed a few hotels, but all are very beautiful.

A independent visit to Cayo Santa Maria..
Our goal was to visit the remout beach of Playa las Gaviotas ...
.the only beach in the island which is free (a 5$ enter ticket at the entrance) and untouched by the large resorts and hotels....
The Gaviotas supposed to be a presarved Park ...
We arranged a trip from Caibarien town by old American car (cost 15-17$ per person the transport, return and waiting from 9.00 to 16.00 local time communication with these drivers WhatsApp number ENDY 5353674784) .
After entering the Causeway- in a few klm we reached a checkpoint....
At that checkpoint we were informed by the drivers that we HAVE to buy a ticket- voucher cost 20$ in order ti enter to Cayo Santa Maria..
..then we realised that was a ticket not to enter to Cayo-island...BUT was a ticket to enter to specific Hotel( Pueblo Flor de Sal) and during our stay there we could spend 15$ for lunch....
I suggest that was a commition for car drivers and to specific tourist agency ...and NOT a ticket to enter to Cayo Santa Maria
Finally we went to Playa Gaviotas....this is the best beach in Cuba and probably to all Caribbeans....a miracle of nature... amazing colours... White sand for kilometres and nobody there....there are same hats for our protection from the sun....
Be careful from that drap....with the obligatory ticket-voucher at the entrance

Visited this beach by classic car approx 45 minutes from cruise terminal. Driver dropped us off and picked us up around 4 hours later. Had a great lunch at nearby Ranchon don pepe. Amazing food at excellent prices. Highly recommend.

Beach goes on for miles. Inquire about snorkeling spots as some spots are not that good. Very walkable and beautiful. Runs in front of many resort hotels.

Things have substantially bounced back from a year ago at the resort. We experienced no supply issues and weather was great. The beach is one of the finest we have experienced, You can comfortably walk on this flour type sand for over 7km and enjoy swims in the crystal clear water.
What makes this resort and others in Cuba are the staff. Despite having very little for themselves and the poor economic conditions of the country these lovely people never stop expressing their love with smiles and hugs.
Hats off to our friend and butler Richard Diaz Peralta for ensuring our stay was memorable. Daily he greeted us with a smile, good morning and wanted to be sure that everything was ok. He answered any questions we had and was a good resource and ambassador of the Sanctuary Resort.
This was our tenth time at the Sanctuary and although it is showing it’s age the Cuban staff keep it clean and inviting. We spend our time enjoying the beautiful grounds and less concerned about state of the art guest rooms.
Food is well prepared and presented. Additional a La carte restaurants will open as the high season approaches.
Very good value for what you pay! Enjoy the human positive vibes the Cubans give to you.

Hello ; we just came back from Cuba We when to Cayo Santa Maria Santuary at Grand Memories.What a wonderful trip beach are turquoise and hot the sand is white the pool are so warm people are amazing traveler and peoples who are working in the resert the staff are so amazing and our Buthler LAHIS who are a angel try to please all her clients like if they where king of the place unbeliable what this girlsdo to please everyone .So if you go to Santa Maria when you reserve ask for LAHIS to be your Buthler and you will be very happy for her services.Aurore Martin

5 star seaside then when you know the true history of these places owned by the military in Cuba and the Castro family where Cubans from the island are not allowed to enter the desire to recommend it disappears

De las playas que conozco en el Caribe me pareció una de las mejores. Agua súper cristalina, playa amplia, limpia, un mar tranquilo.

La mejor playa del caribe. El color , está calentita. No hay Sargazo en ningún momento del año por lo que nos dijeron.

This particular place was not worth spending the extra cash.
Depends what you are looking for.
You get:
Seats by the windows and a special
Location at the buffet
The waiter will get you anything (make sure you tip)
Private section of the beach
Beach staff will reserve you a spot there
A special shelf at the lobby bar
Should have an area online that clarifies the rest
I think you get special check in when you arrive. You don’t have to wait in line.

Pour faire du snorkeling depuis la plage de Cayo Santa maria? À quel endroit pourrait on accéder à un coin de plage ? ( en taxi) ( nous sommes équipés en masques et tubas)

No esta permitido hacer snorkel en Cayo Santa Maria, no obstante todo es posible con $$ . Nosotros pagamos a los chicos de la guardia marina y nos llevaron (prohibido sacar fotos), pagamos 30 CUC por persona.
Pero nos estábamos hospedando en un hotel del Cayo, si no estas hospedándose ahí, dudo que sea posible. Suerte!

not sure if you can reach the beach without going through one of the resorts first... but it doesn't matter which resort you are staying, you can walk on the beach from one end of the island to the other since none of them have a private beach

Hi, the only clothing optional section of the CSM beach I know of is on the western end, after the Sol hotel part. It's a bit more than 2 km from the Playa CSM hotel. Last time I've seen the beach, it was fully equipped (palapas & co).

Hi Alvaro. After having seen all the hotel sections on the central beach of CSM, i.e. from Sanctuary at Grand Memories, on the east, down to Sol, on the west, in July '18, I'd rate the Sanctuary part as the best. These are basically segments of the same large beach, as you can see on a map, yet there are parts that are wider and cleaner than others. The water, however, seems allover the same. N.B. I have not visited the smaller beaches, i.e. those of Melia Buena Vista, Valentin and Casa del Mar, so I cannot rate them.
