Amazing architectural building with a fantastic history.
Great deal of information, displays and videos of the past.
Good galleries with varied exhibitions.
Nice cafe.

We travel to the mill every 12 months or so, always worth a visit. The design shop is very expensive but on occasion has some items at reasonable prices. The book shop is very comprehensive, well laid out with a great children’s section. They now also have chairs dotted around. I always manage to find a few books to purchase but think it would be a great idea if small trolleys/baskets, eg were provided to contain the books whilst still browsing. I have mobility issues and use 2 walking sticks which makes browsing difficult. The antique centre sells top quality items and is well organised and the gallery/art shop on the ground floor provides a lovely tranquil space with interesting artefacts from the mill’sd history plus a comprehensive range of art supplies. The cafe on the 2nd floor is adequate, but due to the nature of the building is very noisy, efficient staff but food choice has never really improved since the Covid restrictions. We haven’t managed to dine at Cafe into the Opera ( our preferred choice) for a couple of years as it is rarely open. Salts Mill would benefit from some “new blood”, there is plenty of space for new businesses! Rocket St George would be a brilliant company to open up a store here and I am sure would be very popular, quirky, expensive and unique!

A fantastic day out with lots of galleries, including a huge David Hockney collection.
So many northern mills are converted to retail space- some more interesting than others. I therefore expected this to be another naf destination.
How wrong I was. For me it was probably the best gallery experience I have had. I rate it more highly than Tate Modern.
It is beautiful regeneration initiative- a must see if you are in Yorkshire.
The galleries combined with good retail spaces and cafes.
The gallery is free and I found the cafes and retail reasonably priced.

Nice canal and river walks village very pretty, the mill is an impressive building architecturally. However housewares and furniture department very expensive massive queues for cafes, used coffee shop in village . Also be aware you are entering a clean air zone but only just ,we had to pay nine pounds for our small camper .

This is a really fabulous place, do go and visit. Lots to see, great food. Train station really close by.

It was our first visit to the mill. Arrived at the mill a little late as the sat nav sent us the wrong side to park. Note to self to follow tourist signs from the town centre.
The entry and parking are free of charge that is a rarity thesedays.
The building is very impressive and there is an area showing a film on the history of the mill.
The paintings, particularly those in the year in Normandy exhibition, were right up my street.
There are shops selling quality posters, art work and books.
There were some annoyances, however.
Toilets on ground floor not open when we arrived after 2 hour journey due to cleaning.
Lifts are small when you have a friend in a wheelchair.
We wanted a drink at 3pm prior to going home and nowhere was open which seems strange when they don't shut until 5.30 pm. As the main cafe wasn't taking further orders, we tried the 3rd floor cafe and a security man shouted at us as soon as we got out the lift!
How dare we want to spend some money with yourselves!
We went home thirsty which was a shame.
I can understand that lunch is over but can't they be a bit more civil?

Took a coach group to Saltaire today. Booked for a Salts Walk with the incomparable Maria. The history of Titus Salt is brought to life by Maria in Victorian dress in her hilarious style. If you do not laugh and join in with the laugh a minute interactive talk and learn about the history of Saltaire, then you may be the odd one out. Maria is fabulous and nearly always has her audience in stitches of laughter. Salts Mill is a wonderful art gallery with works by various artists, most notably David Hockney, a local born artist. Well worth a visit.

Although it is an impressive building and there are some interesting videos and information as to how it came about, I was expecting a bit more. The ground floor is just a big shop selling cards, art books, and art accessories. Then the floors further up are an exhibition of David Hockney's ipad art. There was an exhibition of a local school's artwork, but you could only look at it from the side of the large room when it would have been interesting to see it close up as some of it was worth looking at more than Hockney's! The signage could have been better as to where you could go, as I went through an open door and the female employee inside was rather abrupt with me, when it was her fault for leaving the door open.

It’s a nice place to visit, but make no mistake, this place is first and foremost one big shop!
Yes there is some art to view, and I was pleasantly surprised to find some portraits of people I know (from the mining days) in the small section leading to the antiques emporium.
Overall though, this is one big shop selling high-end items only. Great if you’re into looking at (or buying!) high quality and expensive homeward, books, art supplies etc, but a tourist attraction? Not really!
The cafes are expensive but distinctly average in their offerings.
Overall, worth a look if you’re doing Saltaire on a day trip….not worth a visit in its own right unless you are one for retail therapy.

First visit and what an amazing day here. One of the nicest looking old mills ever! Fabulous cafe for breakfast. Wonderful shops. Great David Hockney gallery and display. Will definitely return.

It wasn't memorable at all for us. We had been wanting to go for a couple of years and when the opportunity came we were disappointed. In fact I can't remember much about it at all.

Not a huge lot to see. We did the entire building and the surrounding area in probably less than two hours, taking our time. Then we moved on to the BBC Museum which is not far away. We were staying in a Hotel in the centre of Bradford and had travelled from Newcastle. Probably wouldn't visit again.
