てっぺんからの景色が最高

27年前ぶりに来ました。当時の地下の博物館が閉鎖され場所を移されていたり、大砲が風化して崩れていたりと、メンテナンス不足による劣化が残念でしたが、てっぺんからの景色は相変わらず最高です。本当に戦略的な要塞なのだなというのがよくわかります。

Jolie vue sur le Rio San Juan

Intéressante viste de ce fort construit à l'époque des Espagnols et surtout le petit musée qui retrace l'histoire du canal de Vanderbilt abandonné au profit de celui du Panamá

Rio San Juan trip

Small Fort with lots of history. Has a public library, and a museum. Must visit. Learned one can travel from El Castillo to Bluefields, Corn Island, it's about a six-hours trip on a small boat (panga).

Great views of the river

You can really imagine what is was like to be part of this community during the time of this fort. It is accompanied by a small museum with artifacts. The views alone are worth the small price of admission.

Mooi gelegen fort en leuk museum

Dit mooie fort , gelegen in El Castillo , is zeker de moeite van een bezoek waard. Het is strategisch gelegen, op een heuvel, met goed uitzicht op de rivier San Juan en dichtbij een lastig te nemen stroomversnelling , dit alles om vroeger de piraten tegen te houden.
Het is mooi onderhouden, veel bloemen en vanaf het hoogste punt heb je een mooi uitzicht over zowel El Castillo als de rivier.
Vergeet niet het kleine museum te bezoeken, geeft veel informatie, vertelt de geschiedenis enz.De entree prijs van Dort en museum is bescheiden, tegenwoordig betaal je ook voor gebruik van je camera .

Ce château qui domine le village est incontournable. Le prix d'entrée est modique, la visite peut être rapide, la vue sur le village vaut le détour, et le petit musée situé à l'entrée est intéressant.
