Nice beach with sun loungers 15€ 2 clean sea a lot of people and today we went we had a lot of wind ....I don't know if it is like this every day ... It has very big pebbles inside outside.

Very nice pebble beach with lots of fish! Very nice to do in snorkeling. Provide water shoes because the pebbles are slippery in some places.
I also want to say hello to 3 cute yellow fish who followed us for about twenty minutes and who ate our dead skins on our backs. Very good massages 😂👍!

The beach of Plaka is one of my favourites throughout Crete! I like the calm that there is and the aura that you create in this place.
Moreover, swimming with a view of Spinaloga is something else! It's a very quiet place.
The little boy ⁇ swimming and played a lot with the stones.
Finally, a beach without crabs and hundreds of people passing over you...

Plaka beach is located in Plaka, a few kilometers from Elounda. It is an equipped beach with ample parking and many restaurants in the surroundings. The sea is crystal clear, very nice with pebble beach. We recommend arriving early in the morning to find umbrellas and sun loungers directly on the beach. We had to settle for sunbeds and umbrellas on a platform above the beach, where it was still good. Cost set umbrella and two sunbeds 13 euro. Absolutely to see

Beautiful water and so chilled. Very stoney so bring beach shoes, but is really is lovely!
Try and get there before midday as it starts to get busy then, and we just used our own towels so can't say how much the sunbeds were.

Beautiful colors of the sea, pebble beach so it is better to rent deck chairs umbrella (in July 10 euro 2 deck chairs and umbrella 10 euro per day) beautiful view of the island of Spinalonga. Recommended for snorkeling wearing shoes you suffer less entering the sea!
There is shower and a couple of bars for lunch (not exactly economicj)

Excellent equipped stone beach , modest price . Dimitris , the beach manager is very kind and helpful for great recommendations of Bars and restaurants. Crystal clear sea

It’s a charming and typical village, you have to stop there to have an iced coffee, time seems to have stood still. Nice souvenir shops.

We visited Plaka beach rather than stay in Elounda and use the beaches closer to us.
It's a much prettier beach with clearer water and pebbles, it's quieter (or was when we visited) and less children - the pebbles and steep incline in the water probably discourage them.
It has lovely views over to Spinalonga Island.
There are sunbeds and umbrellas to rent - €10 per pair. Weirdly it's the same cost all along the beach - doesn't matter if its the bog standard yellow sets or the posher loungers and wooden decking at the far end!
There are showers & toilets. Big car park behind the beach (free).
Various cafes/restaurants at the start of the beach - some with free beds if you buy lunch and drinks there - need to be bit early to nab one with an umbrella though!
Good clear water for snorkeling but only a few little fish as bit choppy when we were there.
Does get busier in the afternoons - think a lot of people on Spinalonga morning boat tours then head to the beach.
Def worth a visit - bring some good water shoes as big stones getting in and out, saw a few people struggling.
Note - lots of people bring own chairs and sit amongst the concessions. There are trees and shade at the back of hhe beach.

Is it possible to use hotel swimming pools in this area if you are not staying at the hotel ? is the sea safe for children or is it too windy in late july ?

Hello.
I’m almost any hotel you can use hotel swimming pool, not being a guest. Rates will be higher, however.
Not that windy at any time of year. Public beach is family friendly, having all sort of facilities.
