Okay so I am a novice having only started Fly Fishing last summer. John patiently taught me how to cast and this has led to a number of rather fine Rainbows being netted in recent weeks. Despite the successes though, John periodically gives me pelters for not casting properly and as a result my technique is slowly improving.
I cannot recommend Skelmorlie Fishery enough, it is well stocked, the views and environment are second to none, and you can always get a hot drink in the comfortable Cafe and put the world to rights with some of the very experienced and hilarious characters that frequent the place. You've got to try this fishery, you really do.

Took my 84 year old mother for a fly fishing lesson as a birthday present. We had a fantastic morning with John who managed to teach her so well that she landed a rainbow trout to the cheers of the other anglers.
It's an experience she is still talking about....... especially the two fish that got away 😂
John has the patience of a Saint and is a great tutor, I couldn't recommend this place enough.
Oh did I mention the views across the Clyde 😍, the fishery is in a lovely setting.

Yet another absolutely fabulous day fishing at Skelmorlie. Nothing is too much trouble for John from making a coffee and a marvellous cheeseburger to giving advice and guidance regarding getting the most out of your days fishing.

Great place enjoy the fishing evrytime i go awsome scenery and burgers are amazing always catch a fish or two exept today lol really amzing place

Had a great day yesterday up at the fishery .three generations grandfather son and grandson .very pleasant scenery .john was very helpfull only thing he did not do was catch us a fish but i think we were meant to do that had a few offers and got snapped heavier line next time. will b back very soon if my wife allows lol.great place to escape from every day hustle n bustle .

Wasn't there to fish, just a spot of breakfast with my wife. John was really friendly and made us welcome......more importantly he made us a couple of lovely rolls and a coffee. Cracking service and good prices.

What a fantastic day out on Saturday my niece had. I cannot say enough about John taking the time to give her a lesson. The encouragement and patience he showed. Such a lovely man. Also, sorry did not get the name of the other young guy that helped her too. A big thank you to you both. The scenery is stunning. The fish were flying out the water to my nieces amazement. Lots seemed to be catching fish. (She also caught one)
She is really looking forward to going back. I would definately recommend others to take their kids/grandkids.

Visited Skermorlie Fishery on Wednesday for the first time with my dad and had a great couple of hours on a brilliant wee water. …Foremost the owner John is the most polite and grateful owner and couldn’t be more helpful and forthcoming with advice and spot on fly/lure and peg selections, free tea and coffee brought over to us , even offering us seats for the unpegged bank of the water John went out his way to ensure our enjoyment 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻.
The fishery itself has the best kept surrounds I’ve seen in a long time and is immaculate also it’s setting and views have to be seen to be truly appreciated.
The fishing was great 👍🏻 👍🏻 and although we never managed to net any as they fight well above their weight and done us at the net or just after hooking up we certainly had no shortage of lightning takes and rapid pull backs .
The fishery is very well stocked with rainbows, stunning browns and tigers which one of around 5/6lb which was preoccupied in the edge line reed bed between us all day lol .
Needless to say it’s well worth a visit and I will definitely be going back again ASAP

Great fishery with hard fighting fishing 🎣
We all CAUGHT a FISH.
We ALWAYS ALWAYS come to SKELMORLIE fishery for day's out as we live in Barrhead and it's ALWAYS ALWAYS Worth the journey and SCENERY for selfie's in the background and especially if you catch a FISH: LOOK= I would HIGHLY recommend this to absolutely anyone whom WANTS to teach there kid's how to fish ,John will set you and them up and supply all of the equipment and tackle. Look at my fish, I have a brain injury and STILL caught a nice Blue trout on a wee BLK buzzer with a yellow neckline in July 2021.

It's EXACTLY the kind of Fishery I'm going to get a lift with my friend and weee young boy as he's dying to catch his first trout and the owner setme up and everything and FIRST cast, I CAUGHT a trout there's LOVELY BIG tiger trout PICTURED and that plus anything over 4lbs went BK in we gotta FULL BAG and I'm disabled and Brain injured and have trouble understanding some things but John said don't worry son and tied my knot's for me, FIRST CAST BANG a LOVELY BIG MASSIVE TROUT 😳 that's ONLY a FRACTION of the SKELMORLIE monster 👹 I SEEN it ALL DAY long it's at LEAST 9LBS RAINBOW TROUT at LEAST it was RISING all-day long RIGHT in front of us and we're both going to go BK and TRY and catch it it would be a FISH 🐟 of 4 LIFETIMES
