This tiny cemetery is hard to find and can only be accessed on foot. Located in what was no-man's land before the 1916 offensive, the graves are mostly men from the West Yorkshire Regiment. What is shocking is that they all died on 1st July 1916, the day of the 'big push' and were all mowed down within a few yards of where they went 'over the top'. Of all the many cemeteries I have visited, this one brought home to me the senseless waste of war like no other.

Hay que salir de la carretera y transitar por una pista de tierra de anchura como la de un coche. Nada mas llegar donde empieza la alfombra verde que nos llevara al cementerio, la llegada de un tractor agricola nos hace que tengamos que maniobrar y meter el coche en el camino de hierva que va al cementerio. No hay otro sitio.
El cementerio, de tamaño pequeño, esta bien cuidado como todos. Por desgracia no podemos dedicarle mucho tiempo a recorrerlo, ya que la cantidad de cosas por ver nos hace estar impacientes por seguir.
Creo que merece la pena acercarse hasta el e invertir unos minutos en su visita.
El cementerio, de tamaño pequeño, esta bien cuidado como todos. Por desgracia no podemos dedicarle mucho tiempo a recorrerlo, ya que la cantidad de cosas por ver nos hace estar impacientes por seguir.
Creo que merece la pena acercarse hasta el e invertir unos minutos en su visita.

This cemetery is lying in what was No Man's land - it holds 207 British Soldiers and 1 NZ Soldier. Most buried are from the West Yorkshire Regt.

I've toured many sites around the Somme, every cemetery has it's own feel, in respect for those who've laid down their lives We Will Remember Them
