What a great trip. Luis was so knowledgeable about the landscape, birds and history. I would strongly recommend this trip, in fact I will be doing it again in February.

We have been on boat trips before but this was the best! If you are looking for an authentic trip on the river to Silves this is a must. Luis our Captain was fantastic we learned so much from him about the river and the local history. He's very knowledgeable about the local area. We saw some Flamingos on this lovely trip. We had a couple of hours in Silves then our return journey back to Ferragudo. Paula at the stand was great she explained that the trip was dependent on the tides so the time is different everyday. Thank you both for a very enjoyable afternoon.

We made the boat trip from Ferragudo to Silves which was a brilliant experience. Luis ist not only an eccellent capitão but also an an extraordinary tour guide.
We learned a lot about the history of sardine fishing and the closed sardine factories, the old tide mills, the landscape or the seabirds in the Arade Delta. A little detour in the direction of the flamingos (keeping a reasonable distance, of course) was a welcome bonus.
Of course, Silves cannot be adequately explored during the short stay, but that is natural: the tides determine the navigability of the Rio Arade. The round trip is only possible during high tide. But the hour and a half is enough to soak up the atmosphere of the old capital of the Algarve. And the fantastic boat trip makes up for the short stay in Silves completely.
We had a great time. Thanks Paulu and Luis!

A really lovely boat trip.
Luis is clearly passionate about the area he lives, and has grown up in. His knowledge of the area is extensive and he has such a lovely way about him you just love every piece of information he so keenly shares.
We have visited Silves many times hence the trip up the river was the focus of the trip for us. It did not disappoint. We share storks, flamingos, ruins, vineyards and soaked up the feel of being on the river. Hubbie and I can't wait to go with Luis to explore the Arvad vineyard on our next trip.

We had a fantastic day and Luis give us a lot of information. His old genuine fishing boat was very relaxing. I really recommend this trip to Silves.

Most fantastic boat trip on a traditional wooden Portuguese fishing boat. Life jackets for everyone, and a free supply of bottled water for all on-board too.
The Skipper was very interesting and had a massive amount of information about all areas along the way. Such a lovely lady who booked us on at the harbour in Ferragudo, and a really great way to spend a morning!
We travelled up the river from Ferragudo (with Portamâo on the other shore) winding our way along the river at a leisurely pace. Loads of wildlife to see along the way too.
The Skipper has excellent English, and the lady who booked us spoke fluent English, German and Portuguese. Great we set-up. Not commercially driven at all. Only room for 6 on the boat so it was just a perfect relaxing trip!
Once we arrived at Silves, we had 90mins to have a quick explore - I recommend heading up the (very steep!) winding roads to the castle. Very impressive and sympathetic restoration.
Plenty wee bars etc for a quick drink to rehydrate too!
Once back at the boat we again enjoyed the trip back to Ferragudo, watching the wildlife and taking in the sites we learned about on the outward sail.
Thoroughly recommend this trip - worth every penny.

Took the boat trip with Luis up the Arade river to the Arvad winery for a tasting session. Luis was very informative, giving us a history lesson of the river and its surroundings. His traditional boat is beautiful - much better than a rib! The trip was easy to book from the UK, and we were kept informed by email leading up to the actual trip. Paula is lovely and helpful too. Why not take the trip, then finish of the day at Novo Mundo where Fiona works in the evenings.
A fabulous trip in a beautiful part of Portugal - would highly recommend.

We have now travelled with you for the second time 🫶 The first time to Silves, which was already great.
Yesterday, in beautiful weather, to Avard to the winery 🍷 It was wonderful ♥️
Luis is a lovely guy who also makes sure that "older" people get on board 🚤
He is a ray of sunshine ☀️ Always in a good mood 🤗 There is a lot of information about history, water, flora and fauna and fish🐟
And always concerned about safety 🫶
The winery was also great. A wonderful view 🇵🇹 and a beautiful view 🫶 The snack, which you can book individually, was great 🍱 🍷
We will definitely come back to you. Maybe already in September ♥️

Despite our Uber driver dropping us off at Praia de Rochas instead if Portimão . The water taxi company send the taxi looking for us and persisted until they found us tucked away at a remote stop.

What an absolutely wonderful way to spend several hours. Our boat trip to Sives and back in Luis' traditional woiden fishing was the highlight of our six week stay in Portugal. Luis was so personable, knowledgeable passionate and engaging he made the trip special...and we learned so much. This is a fantastic way to travel to Silves and we definitely will do it again!

When do you start your boat trips again to Silves?
We are interested doing a boat trip.
How long (hours) do we stay in Silves for sightseeing?
Can we bring our dog with us? She is a very friendly Labrador mix, just smaller and is used to do boat rides.

Unfortunately not as not every boat may disembark on beaches. Currently the conditions would be too rough. Our neighbour the TaxiFerry goes from Ferragudo to Portimão town or marina.
We do a river trip to Silves where you have an hour and a half in Silves.

Yes, Reis Jorge are marvelous, we really loved them (went to Silves, river trip). You can find information about prices and times on their webpage ferragudoboattrips.
We did reservation several days in advance by e-mail, as we stayed in Ferragudo for 7 days, and wanted to be sure to get the trip. They sent us possible times of travel to Silves (as starting times are in the morning, but a bit different every day, depending on tides), and the chose the day most suitable for us. But having 2 weeks, you can do it on spot, on the jetty, as well. Have a great trip!
