Beautiful Roman bridge in the central area of Pont Saint Martin. Also starting point for the route Roman Bridge - Baraing Castle - Fontaney Church - L'Castel.

Once we arrive in the square, the imposing Roman bridge looms before us... 2100 years old and it's still there. It's impressive to see it and get on it, I photographed it from all angles... Beautiful.

One of the oldest Roman bridges, dating back to the first century BC, with a span of over 30
Mt on the Lys torrent at the beginning of the Gressoney valley. It stands out over the beautiful village of the same name. To be enjoyed from below and above. And take plenty of photographs. An interesting legend is that, like many historic bridges in Arco, it was built by the Devil and then registered in the name of San Martino who defended the local population from the Devil's revenge aims.

Da tempi memorabili circa I secolo A. C. quest ponte roman alto 23 mt e largo 6 mt dà il benvenuto al Paesello di Pont St Martin, piccolo borgo di 3800 abitanti uno dei primo avamposti arrivati n val d aosta.

Ben conservato e imponente. Alla base si trova un piccolo museo dedicato alla costruzione ma purtroppo non abbiamo potuto visitarlo perché siamo arrivati fuori orario.

in effetti è così. Si scende dal pullman e si rimane incantati ad osservare questa meraviglia.
Per lo meno così è successo a me ed a miei amici durante la prima tappa della visita guidata che ci ha portato alla scoperta delle meraviglie della valle D'Aosta.
Un esempio di ingegneria che ha resistito nei secoli tanto da farti domandare come questi sono in piedi ed alcune volte i più moderni crollano.
Per lo meno così è successo a me ed a miei amici durante la prima tappa della visita guidata che ci ha portato alla scoperta delle meraviglie della valle D'Aosta.

Calpestare il lastricato di ciò che è stato uno dei ponti romani più grandiosi e meglio conservati del I secolo, ed utilizzato fino al 1836 ci fà sentire integrati alla sua lunghissima storia.
Oltretutto, nel nostro caso, ha rappresentato la meta finale del Cammino Balteo percorso, quindi doppiamente soddisfatti della nostra meta.

Lo sai che nell'ultimo conflitto della 2° guerra mondiale, quella zona è stata bersaglio dell' aviazione inglese che ha raso al suolo tutte le abitazioni circostanti, e, si è salvato solo il ponte che hai recensito, dopo la ricostruzione sulle macerie belliche, secondo te cosa bisognava fare ?
