This is Kosovo's National Crystal Museum - albeit most of the mineral samples on display are only from the Trepca mine. But they are stunning.
The museum curator (Shaip) is very proud of his collection and keen to show the highlights. Unfortunately you will need a translator.
Most of the exhibits are labelled with the mineral type and the location from which it was sourced. There is no other explanatory material available. We didn't find that a problem as we knew what we were looking at. But in any event the samples are simply stunning.
There is also a great 3D map of the mine to see.
The Trepca mine is one of the continuing sore points between Serbia and Kosovo. It has some 28 million tons of minerals still to be excavated. If you want to know more about it's history and current political situation, a quick google search will help. Otherwise just enjoy the beautiful mineral samples

The museum next to the mine just outside the town of Mitrovica is amazing to behold. Displayed all about the large room are enclosures showing rocks and minerals as they were found during mining operations. While not mineral experts, the shere volume of items displayed and the exquisite beauty and variety of pieces made this stop very worthwhile. It is probably not a stop for very young children, but children as young as nine or ten would understand and connect what they see to their earth study in school.

We found this mineral museum in a tourist guide for the Kosovo. It is located in a valley east of Mitrovica. The minerals found in the area are on display in glas cabinets. I have rarely seen such a variety of minerals and cristals in one place. Although there are no english explanations, the minerals speak for themselves.
