The gardens and the bird life were amazing, really well looked after, and the facilities were excellent. Got a great video of cranes’ mating ritual but unfortunately this site won’t allow us to upload it.

Very friendly volunteers, including the one who advised us on the order of our visit to make the most of it. We spent nearly an hour & a half on the canoe safari, great for exploring the reedbeds on water. We enjoyed seeing the collection, especially the flamingoes, cranes and storks. Unfortunately, due to the time of year, many of the ducks were in eclipse so a little drab. We also didn't see as many wild birds (e.g. waders) as we had hoped, though we did see a kingfisher. It's a much bigger site than we thought, and we didn't have enough time to explore everywhere.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We hope you can come back and explore some more soon. Autumn is upon us, and the birds are returning to their breeding plumage - but we must say we think they're beautiful in eclipse, too! Waders and duck numbers will build for autumn/winter, as they arrive to overwinter. There are always surprises, with a Grey Phalarope making an appearance today!

A lovely nature reserve
Just the place for a chilled afternoon walk amongst the wetlands
Split into 2 sections
The wetlands area attracts all sorts of wildlife and all sorts of birds attracted to the wetland environment.
The second area housing special breeds from around the world (split into continents)
There are viewing points and hides all around the site.
The Centre itself is nice and modern with lots of study areas information and a nice cafe.
The volunteers are very helpful and knowledgeable

Such a beautiful and interesting place. The wildlife was bountiful and every member of staff was so friendly and welcoming.

Visited this wetlands recently and despite some areas being closed/renovated it was still a great day. Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. There are pond areas and large lakes with a variety of wildlife, including tortoises. There are a variety of viewing platforms/hides and we saw a lovely greylag goose family with 5 goslings. A great day out. Would definitely recommend for bird lovers.

First time visiting and it was great, you could easily spend the whole day there and there’s something to do for everyone, including kids.
When we arrived at the entrance we were greeted by a member of staff and he was very friendly, went through the map with us and told us recommended hide outs.
We did the left section of the wetland centre first and although it was a sunny Sunday it was very quiet and the walk was beautiful and probably my favourite part of the wetlands centre.
The right hand side is catered more towards children, and is a bit more interactive although walking through the pens and seeing the birds so up close was incredible.
We were hesitating on the price at first, but it is a fantastic price for the day. There is a cafe there always we didn’t stop and have food there.
Great place to practice wildlife photography which is why I went and would go back.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The centre had the usual collection of waterfowl plus some storks. The hides are well worth visiting. There was a merlin on the estuary and some spoonbills on a pool. We saw over 40 wild bird species. The cafe served a lovely bacon and sourdough bap. We visited the centre midweek and we were surprised at how quiet it was.

This was a lovely place to visit on a bright sunny day. Met by a friendly member of the team who provided us with plenty of useful information.
We spent several hours wandering around the two halves of the site enjoying the environment and spotting interesting birds. We would have benefitted by seeing a finger post or other type of sign at every junction with another path as we were quite often wondering where we were on the site. Perhaps it is just us?!
Lots of opportunities for entertainment for little people as well with indoor and outdoor activities for them.
We had a good coffee and tasty cake when we arrived in the spotless cafe with fab views across a pond full of interesting birds. We also had a drink and cake just before we left but unfortunately the tables were rather grubby and previous visitors had also dropped food on the floor. Perhaps tables could be wiped more often?
Great little gift shop with some interesting and not overpriced items for sale.

The centre is extensive so you could easily spend a whole day here. There are lots of hides for observing the birds on the marshland. We felt very peaceful sitting back and watching. We even saw a kingfisher! Otters have been seen too. There is an extensive collection of unusual ducks with varied coloured plumage. There is a smelly house of flamingos. The wetland lives up to its name so I recommend robust footwear maybe wellies. There is a cafe. The visitors were either young families or serious bird watchers with binoculars and cameras.

The price is irrelevant for a day out full of enjoyment, relax take a picnic there are many places to sit and enjoy the sounds of nature, see species of birds you cannot imagine existed, bird hides with binoculars provided, pay a small amount of money to help protect our wild life so many more generations can see and enjoy it.

Their restaurant offers good quality and value for money food too. Plenty of choices.

Suggest you look at Google maps and enter Llanelli Wetlands Centre. This will give you step by step directions which you can copy. Very quick from Carmarthen. About 40 minutes. Not really signposted until you get to Trostre Llanelli.Sospan Llanelli Rugby venue should be on your left,then only a mile or so.
As an aside Trostre has a huge shopping area and food if you fancy shopping before or after your visit. Also petrol stations and hotel. If you are infirm they hire scooters ( about £2/3 donation). If you have children the Wetlands centre sometimes has activities for them. If you buy food for the birds try and keep some for later as there is a lot to see.

Hello. Many thanks for your query. WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre lies on the northern shore of the Burry Inlet facing the Gower Peninsula and is off the A484 and B4304 to Swansea. To find us follow the duck signs off the M4 exiting at junction 48. Further details about directions and to plan your visit can be found on our website. Sorry for delay answering. I'm pretty sure that most of the wetlands is disabled friendly. I've pushed grandchildren around in pushchairs. Hope you have a good time there.
