Having just arrived into Malton within seconds of disembarking the train, the heavens opened - a very heavy downpour indeed.
We were booked into a well renowned restaurant in the market town and had planned upon walking had the weather been fine. Sadly it wasn’t and whilst i am not shy of a little inclement weather, I would prefer not to arrive at my dinner reservation resembling a dishevelled dish mop.
So we took a few moments shelter just through the doorway of this establishment. We didn’t know this was a taxi rank as we are from the coast. There were no other people inside the small foyer and we thought thus was part of the railway station. A young man sat behind the counter and screens busily working away.
We saw a taxi pull up not outside the building in the designated area for taxis but mount the curb and pavement between the permanent bollards and park on the walkway itself. Something I am sure Ryedale council and Licensing would find interesting! Or even the Railway given the land and building belongs to them or the local authority.
From this vehicle a rather perplexed woman departed and I stood aside as she marched through the doorway of this room where we sheltered just within the threshold.
She didn’t thank me for stepping to one side she just bounded past and shouted to the young man in a very abrupt , impatient coarse manner “they want a taxi”. So good customer service would suggest one might ask the customer or potential customer politely not treat them as though they are second rate citizens.
As it happens as it was drawing close to our dinner reservation we were deliberating whether to grab a taxi and this woman’s appalling attitude stopped us from doing so. Business must be good that you cannot be civil to people.
She then shouted “do you want a taxi” with no pleasantries and when we said no thank you she shouted “you can’t stay here you need to leave” as though we were vagrants. It was pouring down with rain and we are not shabby in appearance - how uncaring, there were no customers, how unkind, no humanity what so ever.
Out of complete principle I would not use this taxi firm ever.

We attended my sisters wedding yesterday in the middle of a forest without signal. At the beginning of July, we had booked a taxi for the evening and even then, wasn't impressed by the women on the other end of the phone, making unprofessional comments about her new member of staff. Yesterday evening, we went outside to get into our taxi 15 minutes prior to the time it was due to come for us, and they were given the property address we needed to go to - the only couple going to that address. We waited half an hour and no sign of our taxi so we went back into the visitors centre and the most helpful, lovely and understanding team in there allowed us to use their phone to ring the taxi company. I explained to the same lady I originally booked the taxi with, that our taxi hadn't arrived, to which was given an abrupt and rude response, making out someone else had got into our taxi at 9:05pm and there was nothing she could do about it. When giving good customer service, no matter who may take advantage of your taxi firm, you should treat every customer the same because unfortunately, this time I was not taking advantage and genuinely, our taxi had not come for us. Eventually, after she tried to be a clever clogs, she despatched someone in the office to come for us and said they would arrive an hour later than our original booking time, so we obviously waited as we had no other way of getting home and no signal. By this point, all the other guests had gone in their taxi's with a prompt, professional and efficient taxi firm and we were more or less stranded. The taxi still did not arrive at the given time, so one of the team at the venue offered to give us a lift, well out of his way, late at night, after his shift finished. Typically, once we got into his car, the taxi arrived for us.
We had a nice taxi driver who was independent to the firm and was very apologetic but it's the service prior to our taxi finally collecting us which was not good enough. Despite the taxi not coming for us in the first place, or not having the correct information in the first place, left before the time we had booked for, or taken someone else to OUR address, the receptionist has a duty of care to ensure she does not ruin their reputation. We will never recommend or use this taxi firm again.

We have lived in Malton and use Station Taxis many times. The service and value for money are terrific. Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant service, i am disabled and needed to get my mobility scooter to swinton ,they booked the disabled taxi for me specially ,brilliant communication lovely friendly driver who was so helpful i couldnt have done it without his help/support ,arrived on time. The operator was absolutely fantastic organizing everything ,she was so lovely and friendly . Price was great for my needs all in all totally professional service from start to finish cant Thankyou you all enough for all your help and support definately recogmend this company will be using them in the future.

Rude women operater in the office
Called into the office at about 10.30 last night the women behind the desk shouted hour and arf
Not a polite " sorry but it will be one and a half hr wait for a taxi love "

Considering our office closes at 6.30 at night sunday to Thursday post covid that would seem to be pretty much impossible and on saturday night we had a male operator working we do have a full screen floor to ceiling so they will shout to customers should they need to to be heard but at 2230 on Saturday night we had cars on the rank waiting for work so this does seem highly improbable, friday night we did have a female dispatcher but again we had cars free as this is not a busy time I have checked our cctv and can find no trace of a customer who did not get a taxi from our office on any of the last 5 nights when they went to the office

Rang them a few weeks ago to inquire if they take small dogs as we have two. Not an issue I was told as long as they are kept on the floor. Made a booking enquiry today and told they dont take dogs. Now left in a situation were its too late to make any alternative arrangements.

This customer asked if we carried dogs which we do , if they are well behaved and can sit in the foot well. However we do not carry multiple dogs at a time which is what this customer required . We told the customer when he rang , a week before he wanted the taxi , that we could not carry multiple dogs . We explained that this would not be fair on other fare paying customers who had to travel after if there was dog hair all over and also if it was a wet day then there would be mud all over the car as well. One well behaved dog in the footwell is fine. The gentleman was told this over a week before he wanted a taxi which had not been booked at the time therefore we had not cancelled or changed a booking we just could not accept it.Thus leaving him plenty of time to make alternate arrangements as all emails would show if he was being honest.

We booked the 16 seat minibus to take us to a concert at York Racecourse and couldn’t fault the service. Excellent communication from start to finish. We received texts to say the minibus was on its way and received a detailed summary of our journey afterwards. Driver was exactly where he said he would be at the end of the concert and got us away from the venue very quickly using his local knowledge. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and to use again. Many thanks.

Over charged for a 3 mile joining said it was £14 cause it was a call out charge.
Is every taxi not a call out ??
We used another taxi firm for return trip and was only £10 .
So would not recommend to use this firm

Hi Allan I'm sorry to hear you think you were overcharged if you would like me to look into this for you I can as you have not contacted me I do not not where it was from or 2 and sometimes mistakes are made which can be easily rectified by speaking to us please feel free to email me at j8txy@aol.com so I can check this for you Lisa and not all taxis have a call out you would usually be charged from pick up point to drop off point however because ryedale is so rural and on occasion we can have anywhere from 5 miles to 25 miles to come and collect a passenger to go 3 miles up the road as all our cars are based in malton so if you can imagine we had to go 16 miles for a 3 mile fare we would be out of business very quickly , ryedale council added a call out charge onto our tariff so we don't lose money on these kind of bookings however customers should be made aware of this before they confirm the taxi so apologies if you weren't and I look forward to hearing from you. Ps the other taxi company many have been nearer therefore used a lower call out charge as the actual fair in ryedale district with no call out is 8.10

Right next to Malton station, a friendly welcome, reasonably priced, professional service is guaranteed. I have found that a number of the drivers have interesting historical knowledge of the area.
