Powered Wheelchair access is possible, self propelled might be challenging due to the incline. The first third is a steady slope down then the track flattens out. The path is more compact now so the chair didn't dig in as a previous review had said. It's nice to get down to see places where wheelchair users wouldn't normally get the chance to see. Well done to those involved. It's about a 10min steady stroll from the car park. You have to pay to park and pay 2.50 each to use the path to the waterfall. Its a good place to kill an hour. If you are in a motorhome you can stay overnight for free if you buy a meal in the pub using the britguide book.

Great short walk through the snow to see the amazing waterfalls.

Nature at its best. A terrific sight . We were asked if steps were a problem and said no not realising that the return is via a heavily stepped route. There would be no problem returning on the arrival route - a gentle slope. The walk is lovely and the waterfall is spectacular.

Another Parking Victim. Seems I put my details in wrong but don't have the ticket to see what was wrong and this was not provided buy the company. I paid, I displayed, but was caught out by a technicality. I didn't read the instructions but if you have a parking ticket in your car then its a pretty safe bet that you have paid. Won't visit again

What a great experience. Lovely 3 course meal. Great talk about stars & planets. Then the finale… trek to the falls, pitch black, lights went on… wow! Then lights out and another well read speaker pointing out planets & stars in the sky.

We were in the area and stopped here to see the spectacular falls.
Nice big car park. £3 for 3 hours parking (all you need if just seeing the falls). Annoying slow payment machines, and make sure you enter your registration correctly to avoid getting a fine!
(They do take credit cards at least)
£2.50 per adult to get a ticket to see the waterfall.
Walk out of the car park and cross the road. Get your ticket checked then it's an easy scenic not even 10 minute walk to get to the falls.
Once you're there you can stay on the path, or you can go for a walk on the stones at the bottom.
Once you've finished you can retrace the path back to the car park, or you can go up the steps and take the scenic woodland path back to the start point. I highly recommend the woodland path. Once you get up the steps it's a very pleasant easy walk through the forest.
While we were walking to the falls we could see people at a viewpoint on the other opposite side.
When we got back to the ticket checked we asked how people get there and he explained.
Turns out there's a longer walk (that you don't need a ticket for) which he said would take an hour in total.
If you cross the road from the car park and turn left, then a few metres down the road turn right through a big gap and follow the path down some steps. When you get to the bottom turn left and walk next to the river until you get to a bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right and then simply follow the path until you get to the falls viewpoint.
It was great to see the falls from the other side, and if you keep walking a bit further you actually end up at the top of the falls for some amazing views.
The extra walk really did only take an hour in total but it was slightly more challenging than the simple paid for path to the falls.
I get that people don't want to pay for things, and I appreciate that for as family it could be an expensive short amount of time. But if you can manage the car park fee and the falls tickets then it really is an amazing waterfall surrounded by great scenery.
Would happily come back again in future

Star Safaris organised trip to the waterfall. An experience not to be missed as you can only access the water at night at this event. It truly is beautiful lit up and the stars are amazing.

If you can manage a 45 minute walk there and 45 minutes back then park at Bowles Visitor Centre where the car park is donations and all of that money goes to the National Park rather than a private concern. There is a cafe open from Feb 18th and great toilets and signposting. The walk past Low Force is spectacular hugging the river all the way to High Force where you will be rewarded with a brilliant non commercialised view of the waterfall. I thoroughly recommend this as a 2 hour round trip at most.

Website says open until 4 pm. Visited yesterday arriving around 3.10 pm to find it closed! Need to update site methinks. Drove 40 minutes from another site visited to finish off the day. Not impressed. Not likely to ever be in the area again.

A truly amazing spot and spectacle.
We had the benefit of seeing the Falls by night on a Star Gazing Trip (when it is normally closed to the public) and by day and it is quite stunning.
A decently-surfaced gravel track winds and leads you down to this fantastic sight. The steps at the bottom are quite deep and can be quite slippy so take care, equally when you are at the very bottom. If you're feeling adventurous, take in the designated woodland walk which can be quite steep in parts but very beautiful and worth taking on.
HF really is a must visit if you are in the area or close by. You will not be disappointed.

You can park at High Force in the designated car park which is literally just across the road from the access to High Force waterfall. Parking is chargeable at £3 and if you also visit the hotel, remember to take your ticket with you and you can claim this fee back inside when you spend £10.

Yes, High Force is completely dog friendly in all areas. Dogs are required to be kept on a lead whilst on the route and we recommend they are kept on a lead on the public access routs too as there is livestock in many of the fields.
The High Force hotel is also completely dog friendly, so if you would like to visit for lunch, drinks, dinner or to stay, then your fury friend is welcome here too.

Hello does anybody have any photos of car park in particular recent signs I.e. terms and conditions? A friend recently visited received £60 fine for spending 11 minutes. They have said the grace is 10. We are going to court and need photo evidence of signs etc as we don’t recall seeing this especially on the hut all we saw was the cost

I am 65 and if I was you I would park for free at the Bowles visitor center down the road and enjoy the beautiful 1.5 miles walk across the winch bridge and view the falls from the other side, It was so beautiful I can not say enough about the walk. 10 stars.

Hi
There is a carpark near the High Force Hotel, a main road to cross, foot path is well sign posted, approximately a 10-15 minute walk.
If you want to view the falls from the other side at an elavated point then you’ll have to walk to low force waterfalls where there is a cast iron bridge to cross to the other side of the river.
You’ll then see the two waterfalls, only draw back is that it is a longer walk 20-25 minutes to high force.
