These mountains are magical. This World Biosphere Reserve is unlike any other on Earth. We are thankful to have been invited to spend such a wonderful time here. Can't wait to return.

My road trip from Mutare to Chimanimani was awesome. All roads destroyed by the Cyclone Idai were repaired. It took us 2hrs 30mins to get to Chimanimani We stayed at Chimanimani hotel for 2nights.The following morning we went for hiking, late I must say.We started hike at around 11:30am and it took me 3hours to get to the Mountain Hut.

The hike is a bit challenging but manageable. The landscape is outstanding.
I highly recommend you book a guide with ZimParks in advance and put up at the Base camp if you want to get to Mt Binga. You can also put up at the Mountain Hut and proceed to Mt Binga the following morning.
Whether you want a days hike or multiday, go as a group, its more fun and interesting, unfortunately my friend couldnt join me for the hike but i got a good guide from ZimParks.

When weather is clear, take as many beautiful shots as you can cz weather is quiet dramatic, can change anytime, become misty and you wont be able to capture the lovely scenes.
Avoid travelling during rainy season, road from the Village to the mtn is slippery and the bridge they made at Haroni river can be tricky to cross. The trip is for the adventurous however i loved it and am planning to go back this year.

Went with my husband and 8 and 10 yr old kids. Hiked from Mutekeswane Base Camp to Chimanimani Hut. What a wonderful challenge for us all and spectacular scenery. The road into Base Camp from town needed a 4x4. Hopefully they will fix the bridges soon making that road easier (the cyclone in March 2019 did incredible damage). Hut is basic - just a roof over your head and mattresses available. Extra water was available from a stream near the hut. Recommend this hike wholeheartedly. A highlight for the whole family.

We were travelling through Zim on a bit of an overlanding adventure and made use of this lovely stop to sleep over. Being quick campers the campsite was really pleasant. The camp manager assisted us with making a huge fire and heating the water for a shower. It rained quite hard the night making the morning really beautiful. The roads were amazing and really muddy. I will definitely head back to explore more of this park.

Stunning place, certainly deserves more visitors than it gets. The mountain hut inside the park is very run down but has an incredible view. Worth staying if you bring something warm. Zimparks aren't that useful with information/hikes/maps. Better of talking to accomodation owners in Chimanimani.

The park is beautiful! We went for a 6 kilometer walk to Bridal Vales falls (stunning). It is steep to climb up to the source of the falls but it is worthy it. We wanted to camp at the campsite near the falls but it was very cold that day.

I loved the general atmosphere of Chimanimani- it is such a great haven to literally get away from everything modern. The town is quite shanty but you find everything you need to survive, however do take your own supplies to be safe. In terms of nature, it was amazing beyond measure, from the drive there surrounded by mountains, to driving up mountains, hikes, the mountain golfing experience and the ever-beautiful Tessa pools. I would definitely go there over and over! Love it.

We have hiked in Chimanimani mountains for 3 days and it was absolutely brilliant. We went in October 2017, travelled from Harare to Chimanimani by local minibuses, it took a full day but we did reach Chimanimani before sunset, it was a tiresome journey but lots of fun. On way back we took Collen's advice and used the long distance bus which took us from Chimanimani to Harare in 5 hours. Collen was our guide and he was great, his number is +263 73 426 1288 and you will not be sorry to pay for his services. We hiked up to the hut and stayed there for 2 days and did various walks around, swimming in the nearby pools and staring at the stars in the night. Brilliant and will definitely do it again!!!

I visited Chimanimani start of December last year. It was great, I think it is a great place to visit. To enjoy most of what it has you have to be a person that loves hiking. You can a get to the top of the second highest point of Zimbabwe and the third highest point. There are also lovely water falls in the mountains. It is also the boundary of Zimbabwe and Mozambique!

We took a hike up to the rock paintings, saw Tessa's pool and experienced the incredible views! Chimanimani is magical! Our guide was Collen Sibanda...absolutely marvellous! My fear of heights is often an issue with climbs but Collen guided me through and I ended up so proud of what I had achieved climbing all the way to the rock paintings! And you just have to swim in Tessa's Pool and enjoy the stories behind the paintings, which are amazing! I would highly recommend Collen as your guide. He says he's married to nature! He loves the environment and works hard to protect it.
