Bellissimo storico ponte immerso nella natura, speciale per la sua caratteristica rocciosa e paesaggistica. Purtroppo le folle di turisti che si incrociano da entrambi i lati rovinano questa magia. Consiglio vivamente di evitare, se non vi piace la folla, questo posto nelle ore “calde” tipo dalle 11:00 in poi e nelle stagioni affollate, per evitare di vedere divi di Instagram indiani o di altri paesi in pose veramente ridicole occupando spazi di transito per interminabili minuti. Godetevi i sentieri nei dintorni con zaino e scarpe da trekking, le scarpette di Prada qui sono fuori posto se piove…molto…molto fuori posto. I parcheggi sono 3 per chi arriva da sud ed ovest: uno ad uso esclusivo dei clienti dell’hotel, gli altri due per i turisti posti però posti a grande distanza. La distanza tra l’uno e l’altro è di 3/4 km quindi dovrete camminare, se il parcheggio più vicino all’hotel e al ponte e’ pieno. Il costo si aggira per la macchina 7€ per 4 ore, 24€ tutta la giornata. Possibilità di rimanere anche la notte per chi ha il camper, mentre molto più conveniente per chi viaggia in moto. Più dura per chi arriva da nord ed est, perché dovrete prendere un battello per attraversare il fiume e farvi il sentiero tutto in salita.

We walked to Bastei Bridge and the breathtaking view of the Elbe and the rock formations really impressed us. The bridge itself is smaller than expected, but still beautiful and quite rightly the symbol of Saxon Switzerland.
Unfortunately, the entire area was crowded. Crowds at the lookout points and long lines, especially at the point with the best view of the bridge, clouded the experience a bit – we even had to do without this lookout point. Those who are not afraid of the hustle and bustle or who can come early in the morning will find one of the most spectacular views in the region.

Beautiful place with beautiful views of the Saxon sandy mountains. It will be interesting here both adult and young tourist. You can just walk on the mountains, you can stay in a hotel with beautiful mountain views, or you can just stop by for an hour and wander the hiking trails. I've been here more than once and still draws the place over and over again.

Easy to reach location. From the parking lot (most close) it is 8 min walk. Both to walk on the bridge and the viewpoint on the bridge. The view is of course beautiful. But it is an insanely busy point. You're just lining up to take a picture. So you can't really enjoy the view. I think I would recommend coming very early or very late.
There is catering and toilets (bring cash). Hospitality is very overprized, so bringing your own food and drinks is recommended.

We retained a car and driver to take us from Dresden to Prague with a stop at the Saxon Switzerland National Park. There are several ways to get to the park, if one takes the train you will be dropped off on the wrong side of the river and will need to take a ferry to get to the park side. For hikers this is ideal. For those with cars one can drive up to the handicap parking lot drop your passengers off and return to the main parking lot. Consult a map for locations next to the Berghotel Bastei. Don't dawdle, the police freely dispense parking tickets.
Mrs Shamaal walks with a cane and easily made it the less than kilometer walk to the bridge. And yes, it looks every bit as incredible as it does on Youtube.

If you are a good walker, we would recommend the route from Rathen, as it is very attractive. Across the bridge you can take a beautiful circular route to the Bastei, the Schwedenlöcher and back to the Amselsee. In any case, it is a destination that you should not miss.

Before 9am it was empty and we were able to take great photos. A great hiking trail where you can enjoy nature for 2 to 4 hours.
And there is also a great view and free entry
Parking at the top is 7 euros, 4 hours is 12 euros, 7 hours max is 7 euros, if you park at the bottom you should take the shuttle bus up, after 10am there are no more parking spaces at the top.
Parking is a bit too expensive but because you can go through the railing for free I turn a blind eye. There is a small shop with souvenirs on site. You can also buy food and drink on site tip: Baumstritzel is super tasty
You shouldn't wear high heels and balance bikes, strollers or wheelchairs are not suitable. Children should be good walkers. The Bastei Bridge was a great excursion destination

Park for €5 and walk along the Rathenwalder Mühle to Amselgrund and follow the path on the Amselsee promenade to the town of Rathen/Elbe. In the town of Rathen, take the street "Im Grünbach" and from here it goes higher and higher past the "Tiedge Aussicht" with a view of the Elbe and Rathen, further to the "Kanapee Aussicht" on the Elbe and further to the Felsenburg Neurathen (unfortunately closed since September 2023 due to fluctuations in individual rocks). Then you reach the Bastei Bridge, which is currently also accessible, and reach the new "Balcony of Saxony", a floating viewing platform made of prestressed concrete 20 m x 3.50 with a beautiful view. (Duration 1h30 with photo breaks). A very nice hike with great views.

An impressive area. Make sure you arrive early, because this is a busy attraction. But it is definitely worth a visit, beautiful to see. We then went on a bike ride. Certainly beautiful in this area.

This was a lot less remote than I expected. There are shops and restaurants only minutes away. Perhaps I did not do my research/homework well enough, but I was expecting to hike quite a bit before coming to this. Instead, it's just a stone's throw away. Took a couple of nice photos here but otherwise probably would not have driven out of the way to stop.
