The Poikilo Museums comprise the Kouvola Art Museum and the Kouvola City Museum in the Kouvola House. The exhibitions are changing. It is an interesting combination of art and history.
The Art Museum focuses on contemporary Finnish art. On our visit, there was an exhibition called 'On behalf of nature'. It consisted of works from the Heino Art Foundation collection which is one of Finland’s foremost collections of contemporary art.
The City Museum shows exhibitions related to the history of Kouvola. On our visit, there was an interesting exhibition called 'Manor Houses of Kouvola'. The exhibition showed what the past life was in Kouvola's manor houses.

I had little time left before my train was leaving, so I went to Poikolo Museot. The museum is rather modest, they have two small nice exhibitions, but there were rather few visitors. The museum is housed at the Kouvolatalo, which is a rather big house with one other museums and a concert hall.

Asuntomessujen ohella löytyi Kouvolasta erinomaiset museot. Nyt oli nähtävillä Sirkka-Liisa Longan näyttely Näin olen nähnyt, aivan ihania tauluja esillä. Alvar Aallon Asuntomme probleenina oli myös mielenkiintoinen historiallinen katsaus asumisen eri muotoihin ja siinä tapahtuneisiin muutoksiin. Myytinmurtajia ja matkantekijöitä näyttely antoi hyvä kuvan alueen historiasta ja menneestä ajasta.

Beautiful city, ugly centrum. Strength of Kouvola is surrounding in a beautiful nature. Poikilo unfortunately tries to be world class art museum, which is not true. Focusing on local extraordinary would be much more interesting. Also local things (art) at the moment is just a lousy copy of international art. Sorry.

Do Kouvoly jezdím pracovně již řadu let. Je to celkem nezajímavé město, pokud jde o pamětihodnosti. Příroda kolem je však krásná po celý rok. Museum umění je nová a elegantní budova. Jak je ve Finsku zvykem, má všechny atributy dokonalé architektury a vstřícných služeb, ke kterým automaticky patří, že se domluvíte anglicky. Stálá expozice je výborně udělaná, přechodné výstavy perfektně instalované. Rozhodně doporučuji!

Mielenkiintoinen näyttely jossa käsiteltiin Kouvolasta lähteneitä ja alueelle saapuneita siirtolaisia. Näytteillä esineitä ja vaatteita joita siirtolaiset olivat käyttäneet, sekä tarinoita siirtolaisten elämästä. Sen sijaan evakota oli ehkä vähän kevyellä kädellä käsitelty; siitä tähtien pudotusta. Plussana kuitenkin tarina keksijä Tigerstedt'istä. Oli uutta minulle.

There are actually two different museums, an art museum with exhibitions of all styles of art. Often they offer interesting viewpoints to local artists, but also some international artists as well.
Other museum showcases different aspects of history and life of the area. Very playful ideas in showcasing past life.

A very versatile space to exhibit all kinds of art. Small but well stocked museum shop. I feel it's a bit outdated not to let people take photos.

Само здание небольшое, но в нем расположились сразу несколько музеев. Сначала мы посмотрели выставку скульптур, а потом удивлялись небольшой коллекции картин местных художников.
