Museo Riihimäel vaik ei mikkää suuresuur ookkaa, ni paljo on nähtävää. Wähäjärve kokoelmas on tunnettui maalarloi, Helenee, Tykkoo. Lisäks on veistoksii. Romanikulttuuri näyttely on hyvi mielekiiintone. Historiijaa esitellää, koulutusta, pukuloi, laululoi. Mahtaaks tällästä muual ollakkaa? Vartavaste myökii käytii kassomas. Käyhä siekii!

Museo sijaitsee keskustassa. Näyttelyitä on kahdessa kerroksessa, on vaihtuva näyttely sekä näyttely, jossa teokset on valittu museon omista (testamentilla saaduista tauluista ja esineistä) kokoelmista. Schjerfbeckin lukuisat työt ovat määräävänä osana ja ovat mittaamattoman arvokkaita. Kaikkia testamenttilahjoituksia ei edes ole vielä tutkittu eivätkä ne siten ole olleet edes esillä. Museokaupasta voi tehdä löytöjä. Museossa järjestetään ajoittain erilaisia tapahtumia. Käyn paikassa useamman kerran vuodessa enkä ole vielä kyllästynyt!

The museum operates in a government office block built in 1963. The museum was opened to the public in 1995.
An art and antique dealer Mr. Pentti Wähäjärvi and his wife Tatiana donated their collection, 2000 pieces of art and other objects to the City of Riihimäki in 1993. A part of that is on display here and it is regularly changed because the collection is too large for all items to be shown simultaneously.
Now there were exhibitions: Female Artists and The Return of Birds - The Spring is coming. Both exhibitions display works mainly from Tatiana and Pentti Wähäjärvi Collection.
In the Female Artist exhibition were many paintings from Helene Schjerfbeck. She is a famous Finnish painter, most widely known for her realist works and self-portraits.
Beside these two exhibitions, there is a huge collection of Chinese porcelain.
An art and antique dealer Mr. Pentti Wähäjärvi and his wife Tatiana donated their collection, 2000 pieces of art and other objects to the City of Riihimäki in 1993. A part of that is on display here and it is regularly changed because the collection is too large for all items to be shown simultaneously.
Now there were exhibitions: Female Artists and The Return of Birds - The Spring is coming. Both exhibitions display works mainly from Tatiana and Pentti Wähäjärvi Collection.
In the Female Artist exhibition were many paintings from Helene Schjerfbeck. She is a famous Finnish painter, most widely known for her realist works and self-portraits.

Pysyvien näyttelyiden lisäksi myös erikoisnäyttelyistä voi nauttia tässä miellyttävässä miljöössä. Vähäjärven kokoelmat ovat upeita ja ainutlaatuisia. Suosittelen.

Siellä on aina kiinteä - sekä vaihtuva näyttely. Schjerfbeck tuotantoa. Edesmenneen galleristi Wähäjärven runsaat lahjoitukset pysyvästi siellä. Myös arvokasta kiinalaista posliinia esillä. Keskeinen sijainti Temppelikadulla, poliisilaitoksen talossa.

Riihimäen taidemuseo on kokemisen arvoinen paikka. Museolla on monipuolinen kokoelma taidetta ympäri maailmaa. Avajaistilaisuudet ovat erinomaisia ja johdattelevat hyvin kulloinkin alkavaan erikoisnäyttelyyn.

Nice amount (meaning not too much) of beautiful Finnish paintings. Interesting exhibitions. The one with the naivistic art from Kati Mikkola is just excellent. Spacious building with a lot of light. Even the initially reluctant teenagers of the family liked the colorful exhibitions of Mikola downstairs and the art-workshop upstairs.

The town of Riihimäki between Helsinki and Hämeenlinna is not seen as an important tourist place. If visitors stop here, it will be most of the time to have a look at the interesting Finnish Glass Museum. Other museums here are the Finnish Hunting Museum, the Town Museum (with local history), the small National Labour Movement Museum (by appointment) and the Art Museum.
The Art Museum opened in 1995 thanks to a donation by an antiquarian and art dealer couple in Helsinki. The core of the collection are Finnish paintings from the first half of the 20th century. What surprised me were the many paintings of flowers and the fact that a great majority of the painters were women from the Finland Swedish minority.
Most paintings are pretty average and one wonders how they made it into an art museum. But there are exceptions and two small portraits just caught my eye: 'The Parisian' and 'The English Lady'. My Finnish friend, with whom I visited the place, told me then about the painter Helene Schjerfbeck, whose paintings already reach high prices at international auctions. The next day I had the chance to see more of her work at the Serlachius Art Museum in Mänttä.
The permanent exhibition is on the upper floor of the museum, while on the ground floor are temporary exhibition (at the time of my visit a pretty awful collection by a female painter of our times).
There is an entrance fee and a little museum shop. Photography inside is not allowed.

Viehättävä pieni Taidemuseo Riihimäellä, mielenkiintoisia näyttelyitä ja kiva pieni museokauppa. Yläkerrassa pieni askartelutila, jossa näyttelyn teemaan liittyvää askartelua.
