Amazing experience. The views from the top are breathtaking. It is a nice trek, although one has to be careful climbing up and down the steep areas. I think it shiuld be avoided during monsoons mainly because the surface becomes really slippery . Overall it was an amazing trek.

A fairly challenging trek because the incline is steep. However, the view from the mid-point and the top is worth it. Try to start early morning so that you are not trekking in the sun

Went for hiking here this week. If going from Bangalore the route is pretty simple and well built. Just follow google maps. There is ample parking space near the temple. Ask someone where the hiking starts. There is no board to mention the start point. The ascend is steep, follow the arrow marks through out the hike. If you're comfortable with little jogging or someother exercise, should be a cake walk for you. If you're someone who's not into fitness, might be little daunting. Nonetheless this is relatively simple hike. The view from the top is great, can see the cityline of bangalore easily from there. Try to come early morning to witness sunrise here. Ascend can easily be done between 1:45 hr - 45 mins depending on fitness. Descending in 50- 25 mins. Carry a small back pack just to have water. make sure your both hands are free to take support during the hike.
and please leave nothing but footmarks. Happy Hiking!

The place is located around 50-60kms from banglore. Visited this place with my friends on weekends. There’s a lot of public transportation facilities available to reach here.
It takes around 2-3hrs to reach the top. One can visit the hills anytime but not when it’s raining as the hill becomes slippery and dangerous because of its inclination.
Take a water bottle and have a good trekking shoes. The view from top of the hill is mesmerizing. There’s a nandi maharaj temple on top which one can visit.
Do not play pranks on your friends as the hill has a steep inclination and becomes more dangerous during/after rains. Advise you not to go at this time.

This hill is around 60km distance from Bangalore via Magadi. You can find lot of buses to reach magadi from Bangalore toll gate.We need to pay 50rs to Magadi. From Magadi we can get less number of buses to reach savanadurga cross and we will get service autos to reach savanadurga Lakshmi Narasimha temple. We can start our trek from Lakshmi Narasimha temple. This trek is not easy trek and we need to be cautious while climbing the rock as it is flat for some distance and steep for some distance. It will take around 2-3 hrs to complete this trek. You can find some beautiful views from top of the hill and can take some good photos

I almost cried seeing the view from the top of first hill. It was amazing I have never seen such beautiful views in my life. 48 km from Bangalore The Savandurga hill is considered to be among the largest monolith hills in Asia, part of the Deccan Plateau. It has two rock faces The Karigudda and the Billigudda trail. Both are tough climbs but Karigudda is tougher and less explored.

We started around 3:30 am from Kadugodi and reached Savandurga tracking start point around 05:40am as track start time selected as 6 am. It is recommended to reach by 6 am to start on time as this is monolithic granite rock hill, after 8am rocks are hot and while coming down it will be challenging. It took complete 4 hrs for us to reach on top and back to track start point .There is one famous durga temple there at track start point and few local small restaurant to have breakfast (idly/etc).
Track start point: no dedicated parking slot available, one can park vehicles near temple as enough space is available for parking at owners’ risk. Track start point, is just behind temple main gate , no visible sign board but there is one incline way towards down which has to be followed. Approx, 50 meters walk is there is reach rock tail and start track.
Tracking difficulty: Moderate to High (considering individual) , but off course not to be considered as easy track . Don’t get confused looking at picture as inclination is not visible , but in actual it is tough track for beginers/
Risk: Avoid going on track during raining season as rocks are slippery and tracking is very difficult.
We went there on 18th June (during raining season), fortunately rain stopped while tracking but due to water flow from top to bottom, rocks were very slippery and we had lot of issues while climbing up. There is no support throughout the track, one has to be careful with steps. I must say, do not plan this track with kids (specially below 10 yrs) as for them this will be tough and risky.
To do :
1. Carry light snacks with you (example: dates, nuts, banana, cashew)
2. 2 litre water is recommended
3. Shoe with good grip /proper tracking shoe
4. Basic fastaid kit
For tracking lovers, this is must go place and if one will be able to reach on top by 07:30 it will be good scenery view .
How to reach Savandurga:
1. From whitefield , 86 KM via Nelamangala Town (NH75) , time approx. 2 hrs 30 mins in morning time considering town traffic (preferred route)
2. Another route is , through NH 48 and NH44 , Via electronic City , time approx. 2 hrs 30 mins.

I have been here 3 times, reached the top twice. If you're going for the first time, do read this fully. One of the better treks on the outskirts of bangalore. The trek is roughly 3.9 kms uphill. (as per my smartwatch)
Tips:
*This is a steep beginner-Intermediate trek which may take a rough 1.5-2.5 hours uphill and 40-60 mins downhill based on your fitness level.
* Start early in the morning around 4 am if you wanna experience the best view.
Really good sports/trekking shoes are a *MUST . Slippers/sandals are going to make it really hard avoid em. Barefoot is also okay as long as you're confident and not doing it during the day time(the rock starts to get really hot aft 12pm)
*avoid during the rainy season. Few portions of the trek do get slippery n get fatal
*Carry sunscreen, energy bars, 2 litres of water, a powerbank, (don't keep hydrating yourself unless you really need to, it'll only slow you down) though you'll find vendors selling butter milk, water, juice etc atop. Keep your backpack light.
*Garbage bags are a must. Do not litter around this beautiful place. Carry your stuff all the way downhill
*Have breakfast at the bottom before you start. The Locals provide you really good home made food. Do not start on an empty tummy.
*There are white arrows painted on the rock to direct you, follow em all the way.
Beautiful trek, Sundays are usually crowded try going on a saturday. Haffun, Safe trekking and DO NOT LITTER.

We just went by the reviews that called it a great trekking experience. We were in for a mighty shock! For our kids under 12, this was such a huge challenge! And there are no sign boards to guide on the 2 different paths. We ended up climbing on the sheer rock instead of going the easier long route. You *must have* shoes with grip to climb here. All said and done, once we reached the Basava Temple, there was such a huge sense of accomplishment! The kids were super thrilled to have achieved this big challenge! The view is breath-taking :)

Hello, I am planning to visit Savandurga hills today morning (22-10-22). Is it open for trekking now, and are there any charges to be paid? Also, I have planned to reach till Magadi from KBS by bus.. beyond that are auto-rickshaws available till the foothills? If so, about how much does it cost?

How can one get to the Savandurga Monolith by bus from Bangalore? What does it cost? And when does the bus go?
I read that one can get to Magadi grom KR Market, and then have to take a car. Is it possible to get a car fast through Uber, or should I book somewhere in beforehand?

There are autos which ply from Magadi to Savanadurga. That should be sufficient.
